It's all a matter of perspective, isn't it?

"Halsey and Bonnie Frost -- your kids were once in a car accident that left them in a coma -- what do we have as prizes for the both of you? Oh ..."

When Halsey and Bonnie Frost agreed to go public with how the State Children's Health Insurance Program helped them after a car crash left two of their children comatose, the Baltimore couple expected to hear from critics of government-funded health care.

But while the Frosts were helping a bipartisan majority in Congress sell a plan to expand the program, they were not prepared for comments such as this one, posted over the weekend on the conservative Web site Redstate:

"If federal funds were required [they] could die for all I care. Let the parents get second jobs, let their state foot the bill or let them seek help from private charities. ... I would hire a team of PIs and find out exactly how much their parents made and where they spent every nickel. Then I'd do everything possible to destroy their lives with that info."

Yes, that does sound a bit tasteless, but let's not forget, CC once told a grieving Canadian military mother to pretty much fuck right off for using her emotional distress for political propaganda. So it all balances out, and we're good here. Isn't that how it works?

Don't you find stuff like this just completely depressing?

I find it enraging.

And there's more: Malkin vs Malkin.

The family has now received death threats. Nice going, wingnuts.

Is that really a defense you want to use, CC? That you're no worse than that Redstate commenter?

Yes, fr, that must be it, because my once getting seriously pissed with a grieving mother is exactly equivalent to calling for a concerted effort to track down a family, tear their lives apart and destroy them.

To tell you the truth, fr, I would have thought that that second situation was measurably more outrageous and reprensible than what I did. I guess we're lucky that you're here to set us all straight. What would we do without you?

Fergusrush is indulging in real moral relativism, as opposed to the one the righties are always projecting onto their advesaries.

The Right really is morally bankrupt.

The second situation is more outrageous, to be sure. However, I fail to see how the "at-least-I'm-not-as-big-an-asshole-as-that-guy" defence excuses what you did. You can keep coming back to this at regular intervals for as long as you wish, but you'll never live it down until you do the right thing: man up and apologize.

fergusrush claws his way through the rabble of shrieking, hate-mongering, racist, misogynistic, right-wing bloggers and pundits to give me the scolding I so thoroughly deserve:

Sure, ferg, I'll give that some thought. In the meantime, I just can't wait to see your list of conservatives who you think should similarly issue sincere and public apologies for the atrocities they've committed.

So let's have it, ferg -- let's see that list. Really, we wouldn't want to think that you were being unfairly selective and giving your neo-con brethren a free pass, would we?

Anytime you're ready, dude.

CNN pointed out this morning that it's the Democrats' fault that right-wingers are trashing the Frost family. http://thinkprogress.org/2007/10/11/cnn-blame-dems-graeme/ CC does not have such an alibi. So lets keep dumping on CC.

fergusrush forgets the 'throwing good money after bad' fallacy. If your initial investment (time, money, any commitment) was wrong or contrary to your expectations, then no fucking amount of energy or investment will ever change the initial wrong.
It is done and over, and it was wrong. To throw good money continuously is to corrupt that maney into bad, and serves only to prolong, or keep alive, the intitial wrong situation.

Another biggie, as ti-guy said, is the purest of bullshit moral relitavising. It is severely over generalizing things to make them seem equivalent. Like saying "Look, a Democrat got arrested one (think Kennedy) so having 30 republicans under investigation, charged with, or convicted of everything from trying to come on to gays to influence peddling and corruption is no big deal. Every party has it's bad behaviours."
This is a red herring arguement, and is meant to distract from the immediate and relevant issues, namely, that the republicans of today are by far the most corrupt and selfish group to ever hold sway in the U.S.

So, fungusbush, not only has CC not articulated the same type of overgeneralizing and condemnatory judgement, he has rightfully called a manipulating bich on her shit, for what type of person wants others to die so she can feel justified? CC said it, and I agree 100%.
He is not just randomly waylaying criticism on the 'opposition' just for the principle of it, like neo-fucks like to do, he expresses very valid reasoning behind his common sense and ungullability (is that a word?hah) and refusal to be led away from the important aspect of neo-fuckrightoffanddie-cons.

That's my favourite saying, F off and die....
Yeah funkytush, I insulted you, so I suppose that means I am beneath you and therefore what I say has no relevance.
I am not writing this for you, remember that.

"Funkytush"...heh.

I heartily concur. Put up (...or 'man up,' as masculine manly-man FR put it) or shut up.

And if you don't...I'll commit the grievous sin and unconscionable act of telling you to go fuck yourself.

I finally figured out what's been bothering me about this post.

When CC compared himself to the patriotic Americans who, by attacking the Frost child, rushed to the defense of their president, he compared apples and oranges. He should have compared himself to the Frost Child, for the Frost child, like CC in his attack on Mama Wanda, attacked a symbol that all patriots instinctively defend. Hence, the American patriots attacked the Frost child and family the way Richard attacked CC. While the American patriots were more successful in discovering the Frost family's home address, Richard give it that gool ole' Canadian try.

Cheer the patriots! Boo the troublemakers! And in this way, Americans and Canadians are united.

Try to stay on topic, CC. You've made this about you, no one else did that. Now you're just trying to deflect onto me; only tiggy and the mick are going to fall for that.

You brought the subject forth again, and you tried to use the "bigger asshole" defence. I'm just a guy pointing out that it won't work (well, it probably will for tiggy and the mick).

I don't read neo-con blogs except for the links I follow from here; I find them boring, to be honest. It's much more interesting to see the left-wing side's reaction to right-wing shenanigans.

As for "scolding" you, that was not my intention because I really couldn't give a fiddler's fuck whether you act one way or another. The box is for comments so I use it when the mood strikes, that's all.

Oh, sigh. Here, ferg, let me make this devastatingly simple for you -- I won't be apologizing for that original Wanda Watkins post. Period. I meant what I wrote, and I'm standing behind it.

So are we good here? Does that mean you'll stop your childish whining? And does it mean you'll now go pick on far more outrageous and offensive conservatives, like the people who are now explicitly harassing the Frosts, and (reportedly) sending them death threats? Or does your outrage stop and end with my little comments section, while all of your ideological colleagues get that free pass I mentioned earlier, hmmmmm?

Unknown said...

Don't worry, CC, your posts have always been "devastatingly simple".

And relax, dude, next time you decide to whine and stamp your little feet about the injustice of people not realizing that there are "bigger assholes" than you out there, and there will be a next time, you'll get a free pass too. When it happens, those of us in touch with reality and without short memories will recall that we've been down this road before, while tiggy and the mick will wet themselves with glee at Master taking them for a ride to new and wonderful places.
