Dinesh D'Souza: The gift that keeps on giving.

It's going to be some kind of busy here at CC HQ for the next little while, so posting is going to be a bit scarce, but there's just so much wingnuttery goodness in Dinette D'Setta's aforementioned post on God that one has to address the following, eye-rolling paragraph:

So far Hitchens and his fellow atheists have had it relatively easy. Hitchens has been going around the country debating pastors. Pastors are supposed to be models of Christian charity. This means that Hitchens can call them names but they cannot call him names. Pastors are required to turn the other cheek, while Hitchens gets ready to kick them in the rear end. Moreover, pastors are not used to fending off attacks from people who deny the validity of the gospels and, in Hitchens’ case, even cast doubt on the historical existence of Jesus Christ. How can you quote Scripture to a man who denies the authority of Scripture to adjudicate anything?

(Pause.)

Let me translate that for you: "When it comes to a discussion of the existence of God, how dare atheists like Hitchens not accept the basic premise of the historical authenticity and innerancy of Holy Scripture? Why, the nerve!"

Dinesh has a point since, when I get into a debate, I like to simplify things by conceding my opponent's position right off the bat. It just saves time, ya know?

I'm afraid to comment, lest someone call me a monkey with a razor-thin attention span.

I'm sure all theses debates Hitchens is attending and looking crossed-eyed at pastors are events for which he was invited. I'm looking forward to the one he has with D'Souza, although I'm guessing that these two partners-in-crime are staging this event as a spectacle, rather than anything meaningful. We'll see.

To be fair, Hitchens probably fails to concede to Dinesh's original positions not because Dinesh is a Christian, but because he's one of those evil little brown people. You can't trust'm.

Ti-Guy, what bothers me is the misrepresentation of my attention span. It is most certainly not razor-thin; it's unspeakably short.

Uhm, they're not?? These must be some spun glass fragile pastors with biiig nermal eyes that are carefully transported between the parish residence and the church each sunday with blindfolds and earplugs, just to shield them from any possible dissent to their avowed world view. And forget that outside of church uhm...pastoring type stuff, like discussing doubts.

The puir lil victims. How brave of Dinesh to breathlessly throw himself between them and the outside world they've never encountered before the brute Hitchens wriggled down upon their small Eden.

What a maroon.

Aaaaawwww...poor widdle proselytizer...can't make the big bad antitheist play by lopsided "rules"...

Hey D'Souza: How about you stop trying to exercise your non-existent "authority" and just start behaving like a human being? You don't need to be forgiven for your trespassing if you'd quit trespassing!
