Goddamned, motherfucking, cocksucking booming school.

Via the Mind of Dan, everything you ever wanted to know about booming school, for fuck's sake.

In unrelated news, Canada's whingers would like to address the inevitable ecological catastrophes that come from our relentless dependency on oil by telling you to fuck right off with your Earth Hour.

How did they get Kermit the Frog to lend his voice for the intro to that? Must have cost a lot.

Also, can I sue the fowl mouthed woman narrating and blabbering on in this for causing me to jab a pen in my ear because her rant was so annoying and vapid?

Jesse:

No, but I assure you that if you want to keep stabbing yourself in the ear with your pen, no one here will care.

I think any new (and some old) commentors should be asked if they have any connection with this. As a bonus, the BTs can then shriek that CC is now doing McCarthy like questioning. Just don't tell them their own friends in the States are now doing purity interrogations to determine if you are conservative enough.

So "Jesse", are you or are you not, one cog in the machinery of the new CPC's new ministry of truth?

You know cc, you can adjust the size of the video fairly easily by editing the embed code - I use a height of 327 and a width of 408.

@liberal supporter: Did the LPC tell you to say that?

No. They don't pay me or direct me. They don't even know me or who I am. I often vote for their candidate in elections, but they wouldn't know since Steve hasn't yet done away with secret ballots.

And you?

@liberal supporter: I just checked your site - no LPC party banner there but the handle makes me wonder. As a general rule I'm suspicious of information found on blogs that fly party banners.

To answer your question, I'm utterly non-partisan. Zero party affiliation, can't stand any of them, and I've only voted federally once - the 1980 general election when I voted Rhino..... I sort of felt obligated since I was helping with the riding campaign.

My election stance is usually "spoil your ballot" and my stance on the party system as it has developed in Canada is that it should be abolished.

I comment as "liberal supporter" so that when I visit CPC blogs they won't see me as a concern troll. I have a lot in common with the more traditional conservative (not the CPC imitation). Espousing mildly conservative views in BT land but refusing to even consider Harper would otherwise result in labeling as a concern troll.

So to your original question, you can treat me like I am some operative of the Liberals if it suits you. But the fact that I have the word "liberal" in my moniker makes it clear where my general preference is. It doesn't bother me if someone wishes to think that, as long they do not make a fuss if my view deviates from the LPC party line.

What I was alluding to is the question in the article I linked: will there be transparency with the shills that the government is now supposedly sending out to monitor social media and offer corrective prose? Speaking of being suspicious, I am most suspicious of those who say they are non-partisan. Not yourself of course, but I often see new people show up claiming to be non-partisan and open minded, then in paragraph two they are quoting the PMO chapter and verse.

That all aside, your last point it interesting. I agree that the party system has problems, but how could one abolish it? The system as it stands doesn't really recognize parties; in my view they are a convenience that allows the GG to decide to invite someone to form a government who probably can (ie. a party leader), but I don't think the laws speak to political parties other than to allow them and to allow more than one.

I'd be surprised if they did - but I will not be surprised to hear about all of the ethical lines they're bound to eventually cross and the gray areas they wander into or try and create.

I really see this in the same light as the party blogging associations - there are those on the list whose job it is to front the party line - they are probably not paid for it but there are doubtless rewards.

Abolish is the wrong word I guess - abolish the power of the party and the party leader would be better phrasing.

Candidates should not be parachuted into a riding by the party - the riding association should be the sole decider of who represents them.

The party leader should not have the power to expel people from caucus and send them to the back benches of independent land - that power should also reside with the riding association.

Whipped votes should be banned - do people really vote for someone to come to Ottawa and represent the party leaders stance on a given issue instead of what the constituents may want?

There is this prevailing belief that when people cast their ballot in this system, we are indirectly electing the Prime Minister apparently. You may want to ask the holders of that belief such as Patrick Ross if that is true, since your question is pretty much a logical consequence of that view (unless people reject the transitive property).
