And Canada's "most esteemed public intellectual" is ...

... beats the crap out of me. Despite having advertised that it would announce the winner at noon today, I still can't find any indication at the National Post's web site as to the winner. In fact, the voting page gives every indication that you can still vote, even though voting officially closed yesterday at noon.

Does it surprise anyone that the NP can screw up something as simple as an online poll? (Just say "no" and let's not make an issue out of this, OK?)

UPDATE
: No, dear God, no, tell me that this teaser isn't saying that the public went with Don Cherry. Please, no ...

Well, I think it should be YOU, CC!

If Don Cherry was an option, I certainly can't see why I wouldn't qualify.

I mean, Jesus, we're talking about a pretty low bar here, aren't we?

Frankly, I hope it is Don Cherry.

Nothing better for the Post's credibility than to declare an openly anti-intellectual man as Canada's leading public intellectual.

Yep, it's Cherry. I just watched Coach's Corner, and they announced it there.

FWIW, Cherry said he was in no way Canada's best intellectual mind. He did say he had the best hockey mind. :)

He actually seemed quite embarrassed and annoyed that he'd won. Ha!
