And the Rosshole blows another one, figuratively speaking.

Back in September, the Axis of Douchebaggery figured he had this one in the bag:

So, apparently Canadian Cynic changed his mind. After yesterday suggesting that it was alright for police officers to Tazer Andrew Meyer because he "deserved" it, today he's apparently changed his mind...

Perhaps the most ironic thing about the entire situation is [CC's] argument that the violence used against Meyer is dismissable because he was being "stupid".

Poor Patrick -- I think this makes him 0-for-infinity:

A University of Florida student who was shocked with a Taser after persistently questioning Sen. John Kerry won't face criminal charges and has apologized for his actions, his attorney said Tuesday.

Andrew Meyer, 21, yelled "Don't Tase me, bro!" as he scuffled with officers during the campus speech last month. In letters to the university, its president and the campus police department, he apologized, attorney Robert Griscti said.

"I made the decision to supersede the rules, and for that I apologize," Meyer wrote. "I should have acted calmer and obeyed the directives of the officers. If I had, none of the subsequent issues would ever have arisen."

Tune in next week when Patrick disagrees with me again, and gets his ass handed to him on a platter.

Patsy Ross: The Washington Generals of the Canadian blogosphere.

(Wag of the tail to RT.)

BY THE WAY
, I tossed a comment from the Rosshole himself, not because I disagreed with it, but because it was little more than a link back to his blog. If you want to blogwhore, at least make it worth my while. But if your comment is nothing more than, "Hey, come read this thing I wrote at my place," well, it's going to get tossed.

Go find your own audience.

Ross was right on this one, CC.

Ouch.

Meyer's statement was just part of a bargain he made to avoid being railroaded into jail on a felony charge.

Brutalizing and Tasering a student because he runs over time at a mike? Only a fascist would support that.

Or someone who believes that if you take a swing at a cop who is in the process of arresting you - you deserve what you get.

We supposed to let bank robbers and drug dealers take swings at cops too?

Well, since an unarmed rude student is in no way comparable to the typical armed and dangerous drug dealer or bank robber, I would say that is a bit of a strawman. The student did not threaten others or the police....

As I said back when it first happened, if three (four?) cops can't take down an unarmed student without tasers, then they are in the wrong line of work. Occasionally, as a police officer in those situations, someone is going to take a swing at you. If you can't deal with that without resorting to tasering, then find another fucking job. You don't "deserve what you get", unless what you got is a reasonable response to what you did. The student acted like an ass, and was tasered for it. Not exactly a proportionate punishment in my eyes. Tasering is potentially lethal, and having watched several of the videos of the incident, I have yet to see a moment when the student presented any particular danger to anyone.

To torture a simile, it's sort of like a catholic pharmacist who can't deal with people asking for birth control...part of the job, deal with it, suck it up or quit.

But hey, we don't have to agree with everything other commenters and CC writes.

With all due respect, Dr. D, knock it off. Meyer didn't simply "run over time at a mike." After the time for the audience question period had officially ended, Meyer pushed his way to the mike, then proceeded to harangue Kerry, and wouldn't stop even after the mike had been turned off.

He then refused to leave quietly, and physically struggled with police officers who tried to escort him out.

Now, whether or not that justified the Tasering can certainly be debated, but don't downplay the actual events as they've been recorded on video.

If you want a debate, at least do it honestly.

Meyer's actions in no way, shape, or form, deserved a tasering. Or an arrest.

Jesus Christ, ... I'm willing to bet that in the the US in the 1950s, there would be more of an attempt to argue with the guy, rather than arrest someone for being disagreeable, and then electrocuting them when they decide they won't put up with such authoritarian garbage.

And I'm someone who thinks Meyer was acting like a complete asshole. He got Kerry to admit that he'd read Palast's "Armed Madhouse," but he wouldn't shut-up to find out what he had to say about it.

I have seen the video quite a few times now, CC, and I think that my account holds. He got to the mike and ran over his time. Period. It would have been nice if he'd let Kerry get a word in edgewise, instead of turning his question into a harangue, certainly. But as I've said before, I've personally chaired meetings, and without blowing my horn I can say that I've been able to keep order without using five cops and a Taser.

Of course he struggled as he was dragged out of a meeting by the Gestapo. Hell, wouldn't you? I probably would myself. A campus meeting, and I get dragged off by cops for being boisterous at the mike? Yeah, I'd probably resist.

But the next phase was immobilizing him, and then he was Tasered.

I can't believe we're having this conversation. Mallick says what has to be said here:
