Wingnut welfare and pearl clutching: a match made in heaven.

Commenter "Josef" is miffed:

Oh and to the nutjob who wrote "Welfare wingnut" about Tasha Kheirddin [sic], ... They worked their way to the top, especially Tasha. I would appreciate it greatly if you clowns/jerks/yahoos apologized.

And I quote:

Kheiriddin was the Ontario director for the Canadian Taxpayers Federation for several years before returning to Quebec to join the Montreal Economic Institute, a free-market think tank. She currently works as the director for Quebec in the Montreal office of the Fraser Institute.

I couldn't come up with a better example of wingnut welfare if you threatened me with Ann Coulter's dick.

You keep using that word "progressive" ...

A number of folks have complained that it's not at all clear what it means to be "progressive." Let me help. Progressives are unlikely to do this.

There may be other defining characteristics but that one kind of leaps out at me.

Deficit Jim: Cabana boy.

It's Stephen Harper's Canada: You just deliver towels in it.

Intelligent Designer Handbags.

Please, God ... make the stupid stop:

Yeah, about that hero worship, Mark ...

Over at Dumbnation, Mark C. sighs wistfully over the courage of the American EmmEssEmm:

Somehow I find it hard to imagine the Globe and Mail running an opinion piece like this one in the NY Times:

Mr. Obama will soon face the same awful choices that confronted George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, and he could well be forced to accept a central feature of their anti-terrorist methods: extraordinary rendition. If the choice is between non-deniable aggressive questioning conducted by Americans and deniable torturous interrogations by foreigners acting on behalf of the United States, it is almost certain that as president Mr. Obama will choose the latter...

If Mr. Obama’s Democrats get blown back into the ugly world that we live in, and resume rendition (and, of course, fib about it), then President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, who have been vilified for besmirching America’s honor, may at least take some consolation in knowing that hypocrisy is always the homage vice pays to virtue.

Reuel Marc Gerecht, a former Central Intelligence Agency officer, is a fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.

Why, yes, the "Foundation for Defense of Democracies" should sound familiar, thanks for asking. In blogging, as in comedy, timing is everything.

BY THE WAY, the article of which Mark is so enamored uses the "ticking time bomb" scenario as if it actually has any value:

But this third way, which is essentially where America was before the Clinton administration embraced rendition, is plausible only if Mr. Obama is lucky. He might be. If there is no “ticking time bomb” situation — say, where waterboarding a future Khalid Shaikh Mohammed (the 9/11 mastermind) could save thousands of civilians — then there is neither need for the C.I.A.’s exceptional methods, nor the harsh services of Jordan’s General Intelligence Department.

Yes, Mark, the "ticking time bomb" -- the rhetorical refuge for imbeciles everywhere, where people absolutely know there is danger, and they know the person they have in custody has all the information they need. I'm wondering how well that might have worked out once upon a time ...

"Sir, we know that Saddam Hussein has reconstituted nuclear weapons, and we know that he has chemical and biological weapons, and we know that he's going to use them against our invading troops, and we know that our prisoner has all that information, so we're going to torture him mercilessly until he tells us all about it."

(Time passes ...)

"Sir, I regret to inform you that, despite our best efforts, the prisoner died under torture, maintaining to the end that there are no weapons of mass destruction."

(More time passes, culminating in a successful American invasion of Baghdad during which, curiously, no nuclear, chemical or biological weapons are used ...)

"Sir, um, you remember that prisoner we tortured to death? The one that maintained adamantly that Saddam Hussein had no weapons of mass destruction? Well, uh, funny story ..."

Fortunately for Mark, mistakes like that would never happen. Not on his watch, anyway.

AFTERSNARK
: More than you really needed to know.

Regulations? We don' need no steenkin' government regulations.

Oh, wait ...

One of these things is not like the others.

Dear Big 3: Before you get a fucking cent, we want to see a plan. And cuts. And concessions. We fucking mean it, you overpaid hacks.

Dear Wall Street: How's that $700 billion working out? No, no problem, glad to help, it's what we're here for.

Dear Blogging Tories: Pay the fuck attention.

Submitted for your consideration:

In conversations taped by the feds, Mr. Blagojevich repeatedly gripes that Mr. Obama isn't offering him anything for picking Mr. Obama's choice to the Senate. The choice, referenced only as "Senate Candidate 1," almost certainly refers to Valerie Jarrett, a longtime Obama friend and associate. Numerous sources confirm that Ms. Jarrett indeed wanted the seat — and Mr. Obama wanted her to have it — until she abruptly pulled her name out of the running in mid-November.

Mid-November is when Mr. Blagojevich is roundly griping on the tapes that Team Obama won't give him anything for a Jarrett pick. No Cabinet job, no ambassadorship, no nothing, Rod complains, according to the feds. "They're not wiling to give me anything except appreciation. F--k them."

Oh, no ... Barack Obama refuses to engage in bribery! Stay tuned as Canada's Blogging Tories say that this just proves how corrupt he is.

You only wish I was kidding.

A Salute To George!

An Iraqi journalist offers a kindly gift of footwear to lame dolt President Bush during a surprise visit to the nation he destroyed. After all they've been put through by the worst failure of leadership in modern history, the spirit of generosity is alive and well in that war torn land.

CC ADDS: Apparently, the insurgency is in its last throws.

All Praise!

Get with the new generation kids.

Hey check it out! I bet even SUZIE-ALL-CAPS would be impressed by this post modern manger!

Oops. My bad. Turns out it is actually a urinal for women.

She must have some fancy zipper in that jumpsuit!

Michael Ware speak.

You listen.

Fainting Couches For Xmas!

For the shopping convenience of any of the devlopmentally tardy folks that hang out over at Kate's Kracker Karnival, here's what one can achieve with but a moment of effort using that new-fangled Google thingamajig. Ignore the gift wrapped logo and the category heading for "Christmas and Toys", please, we wouldn't want to interfere with a perfectly good fit of mindless outrage and bellicose stupidity.

Sunday Funnies.

Goldie explains how one joins the Blogging Tories.

And the stupid begat more stupid ...

Someone should introduce Clownhall's Andy McCarthy to the first rule of holes. Although, to be fair, at least Andy has the grace to admit when he's screwed the pooch. We here in Canada should be so lucky with our shrieking wingnuts.

AFTERSNARK: Note carefully how Clownhall's McCarthy is a "Senior Fellow" at the "Defense of Democracies Foundation." I hope you appreciate the willpower it cost me not to do this.

Oops.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Oh, fuck me. Mike Duffy? William Shatner? Welfare wingnut Tasha Kheiriddin? Conservative Party bagman Irving Gerstein? Sandra Buckler, for fucks sake? Please tell me that this was Stephen Taylor's idea of sick humour.

P.S. By the way, Stephen, you might have more credibility if you could spell Leslie Nielsen's name correctly. And Tasha Kheiriddin's, too. It's just a thought.

P.P.S. Oh, and Stephen? It's "liaison." Have you ever considered a spell-checker? It's what the grown-ups use.

It would be funny ...

... if the parallels weren't so eerie:

Small Dead Animals: Bloggy news for the truly stupid.

Yip, yip, yip, yip, yip!

And then there is reality (emphasis added for the hard-of-thinking and those from Delisle, Saskatchewan):

[David] Vitter, R-La., has gotten out in front of opposition to the bailout of the auto industry, joining a handful of other Southern Republicans, led by Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama.

This band of opponents prevailed Thursday in blocking action in the Senate on a bailout package passed Wednesday by the House and backed by the White House.

"We killed the really bad bailout that passed the House, " Vitter said after the filibuster prevailed Thursday night.

Canada's Blogging Tories: When you absolutely, positively need to be hideously misinformed. About everything.

BONUS SDA DOUCHEBAGITUDE
: Kate leaps onto her Rod Blagojevich-model Sybian and rides that baby:

Atta girl, Kate ... all that right-wing Blago obsession is clearly taking its toll:

Or maybe not. On the other hand, Kate, I hear that Obama really wasn't born in the U.S. and that his birth certificate is a forgery. If I were you, I'd be all over that story like Richard Evans on a Little League team photo. Your loyal readers expect no less.

A TRIPLE SHOT OF SDA STUPID: Man, I could hang out at Kate's all day and just immerse myself in the dumbassitude:

Apparently, the right-wing obsession with capitalism, supply and demand, and allowing stores to sell whatever they want depending on what makes them the most profit was an illusion.

Here's a thought, Jeanette -- if you haven't bought a nativity scene in years, maybe others hadn't either and so they weren't hot sellers so the stores dropped them. Jesus, how is it that you have to explain simple retailing to these fuckwits? But we'll give the very first commenter "Mike" the last word:

Yes, Mike ... you and the rest of the white trash, mouth-breathing, cross-burning SDA demographic are going to up and boycott Wal-Mart. Excuse me while I go spew coffee out of my nose.

THE FUN JUST NEVER ENDS
: I realize it's just giving that lying, racist shrew more web traffic but, seriously, you have to read some of the comments on that post of Kate's. Here's one of my favourites:

I once made a conscious decision to not buy from stores that had no mention of Christmas. That is becoming harder to do as the years go by. When I do buy from such a story [sic] and an employee gives me the "happy holidays" treatment I simply say something like "No thanks for that - if you can't wish me a MERRY CHRISTMAS, don't say anything at all".

Attaboy, Bob, because what better way to celebrate the birth of your Lord and Saviour than to reinforce the reputation of Christians as nasty, small-minded, intolerant, vile bigots?

And Bob wonders why his neighbours don't invite him to their backyard BBQs anymore. Think hard, Bob ... it'll come to you.

It's because they lie. All the goddamned time.

I really hadn't intended to address this bit of right-wing sleaze but, what the hell, a quick towel snap and we'll move on. First, set the stage.

Done? Good. Now consider bottom-dweller commenter Q:

I wonder if CC's posting of Richards children's names, address, and schools attended has anything to do with this.

Dawg?
Q | 12.10.08 - 11:42 am

Let's disembowel this bit of dishonesty, shall we? First, as Dawg points out, this brouhaha has nothing whatsoever to do with me, so we've already demonstrated that Q is a bit of a douchebag.

Second, I have never posted the schools that Richard's children attend for the simple reason that I have absolutely no idea what they are, which would make it at least a little difficult for me to do so. And if Q has any evidence that I have ever done so, he's welcome to present it here.

And as for the rest of Q's imbecilic idiocy, I recommend making yourself comfortable and settling in for a long read.

Are we done here? Yeah, I think we're done here.

P.S. Actually, if the mood strikes later, I may yank Dick's dick out of his trousers and pound it flat one more time. But only if I think it's worth it.

No. Fucking. Shit.

Just go read.

(Wag of the tail to My Blahg.)

God, I love the Intertoobz.

Quickly, Sherman, into the wayback machine:

The latest insult to the Fathers [of Confederation] came most lately from our current Prime Minister, Paul Martin. Our Prime Ditherer’s appointed another six Liberals to current Liberal senate caucus of 47 appointed by Jean Chretien reconfirms a majority of Liberal seats in our upper chamber merely by appointment. Martin’s announcement last week allowed the appointment of two Progressive Conservative senators but this merely served as a poke in the eye to the Conservative Party of Canada as the PC Party no longer exists and instead sits opposed to the Conservatives. Paul Martin is not acting as a Prime Minister with a minority government.

Thanks, Stephen ... we'll give that earlier foaming outrage of yours all the consideration it's due.
