The absurdity of the "flypaper" strategy.


Following up on this post from Timmy the G, the notion of pouring all of your troops into the Middle East to act as "flypaper" for insurgents and terrorists so you could face them on your terms is logically equivalent to (as one 'Net wag once wrote) building a really, really filthy hospital so you could attract, and face on your terms, as many germs as possible.

I trust I don't have to explain that analogy to anyone except, perhaps, Peter Rempel.
