Here's a wild and crazy idea -- perhaps if Rittenhouse hadn't driven across state lines with an illegal assault rifle and sauntered fully-armed into the middle of a protest provocatively waving around his AR-15, he wouldn't have needed protecting.
It's just a thought.
Scenario: an angry young black man hears that a Proud Boys-sponsored Pro-Trump rally is going to occur. Given the damage wrought in Washington and elsewhere by alt right demonstrators, he grabs a rifle and heads to the Proud Boys rally, where he confronts the demonstrators, kills two, and wounds one. He claims self defense.
