How seriously can you take a religion when, even to its own followers, it becomes indistinguishable from parody?
Answer: Not very.
This has been another edition of "Simple answers to simple questions."
I think it's a parody. I checked out the "Love God's Way" web site and they feature Cindy Lauper under "Safe Music." Now, everyone knows Lauper's "She-Bop" was hilarious because of the fact that most didn't get that the song was about masturbation. There's also a quote from Oscar Wilde, described as "reformed homosexual."
ReplyDeleteI'll have to say, if it is a parody, it's of a type that's getting kind of stale. What's next? Parodies about parodying things that are self-parodying?
maybe pseudo-Christians (maybe not) making parodies?
