Look at "neo"'s place where on the one hand the CBC public broadcaster is evil and too expensive and again must be sold, while on the other hand the TVO public broadcaster stood up to the evil Cat guy. They'd like to call him Catman, but that sounds too much like Cadman, so don't go there. Somehow Catman is reprehensible and thoroughly evil for making a dumb joke which he quickly retracted, while Shaidle is the paragon of virtue because she tells the truth about the other races and religions.

Unfortunately, the real problem is one they can't explain away by "media bias" or the Liberal Dominated Senate, or the Liberal Dominated Civil Service, or the Liberal Dominated MSM. So they have to attack someone, using the Sarah Palin standard question "Who said that about me?" instead of just refuting the statement. And they have a good idea who to attack about the real problem. The real problem is they tried so hard to make the Obama visit a success for Steve, and it was, since Steve didn't screw up and Obama is always a gracious guest. But after all the efforts at media control, they were snookered after all. Stymied by "the Picture".

They are so pissed about the Times Square thing, Dmitri was reduced to blubbering that Steve doesn't need to pay for coverage. He must have meant "low cost coverage", because I thought the bill for the Daily Dion Defamation ads ran into the millions.

So that could explain Justin's absense, plus the fact he can't come up with an argument. But he won't go with that. Instead he'll explain why he need not bother at all with CC. And his sycophants, we mustn't forget the sycophants It's in the BT manual you know. In fact it is likely beneath him to even come here, being so busy and important. They'll send a troll, perhaps mauser, to inform you, like so:

Why should Justin come and argue any further here? You already called him a name, why should he return to this cesspool? Instead, this is where he has decided to man up and draw his line in the sand. This far and no farther. It is here that he will make a stand in the name of civility.liberal supporterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01129945625510633921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6708375.post-5639344831540000082009-02-22T19:00:00.000-05:002009-02-22T19:00:00.000-05:00CC:Absolutely hilarious and utterly predictable, n...CC:

Absolutely hilarious and utterly predictable, not to mention completely pathetic. Now he will likely go and whine that he was unfairly treated, that it is we that don't understand what we are talking about, etc. He was the one that made the argument which you then promptly shredded and then he "rebutted" with something that only underscored just how utterly incompetent he was to discuss this topic in the first place. Call me old fashioned, but I try not to opine about things I do not understand, and when I am not sure I actually state so in my writing. I guess I am simply an old fashioned conservative personality that way, the kind of conservative that is respectable as opposed to the modern conservativism in NA which is clearly delusional and dangerous to all that actually live in the real world.Scotianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06284856315992405261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6708375.post-20169425242407699882009-02-22T17:22:00.000-05:002009-02-22T17:22:00.000-05:00Trust me, Scotian, I had already noticed that, but...Trust me, Scotian, I had already noticed that, but I wasn't about to waste any more time slapping the daylights out of that cementhead until I had his official position in writing.

And, unsurprisingly, for someone who couldn't shut the fuck up yesterday, he's gone awfully quiet. It's funny how that works, isn't it?CChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11406057201126015750noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6708375.post-91990141791814440112009-02-22T16:09:00.000-05:002009-02-22T16:09:00.000-05:00You know what was really pathetic (I noticed this ...You know what was really pathetic (I noticed this yesterday but decided to let it go) about JH's response/defence of citing the 1.3 million number? Even if you use his number and otherwise continue to use the exaggerated figures for value and total loss that CC did you still only come out to 650 billion dollars lost, which is hardly sufficient to cause the level of economic disruption being seen. If one needed any further evidence that JH does not understand that which he is opining about here that certainly did it when he claimed that his argument made sense if you used that real number (this despite the fact that neither of the other two sets of numbers CC used would be as large, either an average of a half million dollars per home as well as complete and total loss of value to zero) instead.

I don't claim to be an economics expert but to be that blatantly ignorant while trying to claim one knows what they are talking about is truly something found far more often on the right side of the political spectrum in NA than anywhere else, especially in the political blogosphere. (Which given I have seen some from the far left pull some really weird economic numbers and theories in the past is no small matter) It just goes to further illustrate the point that the economic theories we hear from the modern political right in NA are clearly disconnected from reality and when put into practice will lead to disasters such as the one we are currently watching unfold.Scotianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06284856315992405261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6708375.post-89871342754727439602009-02-22T15:51:00.000-05:002009-02-22T15:51:00.000-05:00The whole Irresponsible Borrow Hypothesis has been...The whole Irresponsible Borrow Hypothesis has been repeatedly debunked seventy ways from Sunday but naturally it keep rearing its moaning zombie head, looking for fresh victims.

wv: matelibNĂ¡mo Mandoshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04876501353961485728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6708375.post-17023382469158791212009-02-22T14:48:00.000-05:002009-02-22T14:48:00.000-05:00It'll be an exact repeat of Patrick and the triang...It'll be an exact repeat of Patrick and the triangles...
He'll disappear for a few weeks, then come up with something else idiotic and never acknowledge this bit of idiocy again... except his opinion of CC--that'll get mentioned numerous times...Sparkyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07537839430366306648noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6708375.post-5316675981126970102009-02-22T09:11:00.000-05:002009-02-22T09:11:00.000-05:00Of course that's not (and won't be) Justin's final...Of course that's not (and won't be) Justin's final answer. What's different from the US as opposed to Canada (and this "recession" as opposed to past downturns) is that the US banking system is now woefully undercapitalized and, due to the massive liabilities associated with derivatives, essentially insolvent.

THat problem was created not by too much government oversight but rather by the complete lack of government oversight.

One can argue that lenders indeed were incentivized by government to make loans to people they otherwise wouldn't lend to, but at the same time those lenders were at least equally incentivized by securitzations to make those loans anyway, since the loans didn't stay on their books.

But only by adding the momumental multiplier effect of derivatives is a financial meltdown created.Marky Markhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00465497859724027212noreply@blogger.com
