Given that this is Easter weekend, I believe we should all exercise our Blogging Tory-guaranteed right to free speech to savagely and wickedly ridicule religion for the next four days. Cuz that's just the kind of guy I am. So even though I posted this clip recently, once again, here's Christine Kane with "Mary Katherine's Ash Wednesday Journal Entry." Enjoy.
What really puzzles me is that some of the most ardent Christians I know absolutely refuse to believe that human activity may have something to do with climate change. Yet, they will not consider for a moment the absence of any scientific evidence of God to be strange.
BB's mocking of religion would be more genuine if he didn't engage in proselytising (rather rare among Jews) on his own blog by featuring a site that urges people to convert to Judaism.
I tend to like Woody Allen's jokes about Judaism. Like when he suggests the Jews should have another holiday to commemorate all the promises God broke to them.
Christians would do well to cultivate that kind of humour.
One of my favourite bits, mingling Jewish humour with the birth of Jesus, is the bit by Cathie Ladman making fun of the Wise Men's gift of myrrh to the Baby Jesus. Unfortunately, the only clip I can find is at Comedy Central which can't be played in Canada.
i finally caught the invention of lying a couple of weeks ago. i was expecting a scathing indictment of religion; i was surprised at how reverently gervais delivered his irreverence. i've got no use for sky pixies, and i loathe a proselytizer, but if faith in a god brings someone a little peace of mind, then that's cool by me.
