Funny eh, I'll be that dad wouldn't have let his kid swing a hammer or use a nail gun if he were at home...
I'm not going to go on about gun control, because frankly, to me, this is just incredible stupidity and actionable.
That kid should not have been allowed to do anything that dangerous and those that let him should be held to account for that negligence. It is sort of irrelevant that it was a gun, although I think the arguement could be made that some folks are soo 'pro-gun' that they would do something like this - regardless of the danger - to "prove a point"...
let's leave aside the gun control issues for a second, this is an example of how much gun related stuff is actually health policy. We don't let 8 year olds drive cars, work in mines or all manner of other things that are age inapropriate and dangerous. The poor kids dad, as a doc must have seen accidents with kids and guns in the past.
Further, the muzzle climb on a full auto that small would be something a large adult would have to be taught to deal with.
Standing just under 6 ft 2 and 225 lbs, the 8 year old surprised his instructor and father with his inability to muscle the weapon back down into a proper stance....
"Shee-it!" said about forty bystanders, "Taint no pussy 8 year old faggot pussy from 'round here caint squeeze too them suckers a' once, hyuk, hyuk"
Like, WTF, teaching five year olds to drive 950 HP Nascar next?
I think the question he should be asking here is, "How could this have happened?!"
ReplyDeleteEight year old, an Uzi -- what could possibly go wrong? Really?
ReplyDeleteThe right to bear arms, at all costs.

I'm not going to say anything; these gun nuts are so thick-headed on so many issues that I'm afraid what I'm thinking now is decidedly uncharitable.
ReplyDeleteWord verification: "Ringnesse." I think I'll have another kid and name it that.
Not if Caribou Barbie beats you to it...that would be Palinesque...
ReplyDeleteMine is Ponata...

ReplyDeleteRingnesse is too elitist French for her. "Ringette," maybe. That's pretty hockey mom-ish.
New word: "parbo." This is odd. Usually, they're completely random and un-word-like.
Gun fanatics in the US are completely irrational about their rights to do as they please, whatever the personal cost, with these weapons.
ReplyDeleteDr Freud would have a field day with a nation for whom guns are not just guns.
