I remember "Backseat Blogger" getting outraged when I suggested some time back that a lot of Conservatives in the Interior of B.C. would vote for a toaster if it was running for the CPoC. He started boo-hooing that I'd "insulted" countless people. The case in point was a candidate in the last election who lost I believe but still managed to get 17,000 votes or something even though he'd been charged the previous month with dangerous driving resulting in a serious automobile accident and had also been charged after that with smuggling alcohol across the border (he was subsequently convicted).
Just for the record, ti-guy, Manitoba, a Western province by any definition, is the one and ONLY province in Canada that does not have a CanWest newspaper. This is especially ironic, given the Aspers' Manitoba roots; it's also further proof that we here in the Keystone province are just a little bit smarter than everybody else.

Besides...it's not an indictment of the people...just of the media, which compared to the rest of the country, is just not very diverse.
Ti-Guy — I thought you were talking about all media, not just newspapers. CanWest is the only "mainstream" paper here in town, but many people prefer the local alternative weekly and/or the Globe & Mail.
