If a child throws a grenade at you, you are justified to kill them. If a roadside bomb goes off and you don't know who set it, then you can't kill all the children you can find. Agree or disagree?
I would hate to even postulate a thought along the lines of a nine year old's parents being killed (either justly or not) by foreign invaders and how they may or may not react...
Of course, going around shooting civilians in *any* situation is unjustifiable, even by the loudest big mouths of the right.
As an anthropologist I am on a mission to understand this new breed of political animal. I tried to speak slowly and calmly but alas, these creatures whole existence is centred on fear. Maybe I need to be like Jane Goodall and live among the chimps?
So what would you do if faced with a 9-year-old throwing grenades at you and your friends (assuming you were heavily armed)?

ReplyDeletePlease do not employ logic in delicate situations like this. They're not used to it, and they frighten easily.
