Does it violate separation of church and state or respecting one religion over another?Buffalohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09506163971202956086noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6708375.post-1156439868011270222006-08-24T13:17:00.000-04:002006-08-24T13:17:00.000-04:00Actually - I think it would be a good education fo...Actually - I think it would be a good education for them to work through all the religions they could (sort of riffing on deanna's idea). One week, open with the (Christian) lord's prayer (of course, being Mennonite, the boys should be on one side of the room wearing black pants and the girls on the other wearing black skirts), one week with a Jewish blessing (you know...with gender-appropriate roles), one week with Islamic prayers (complete with mats facing east, the womenfolk in separate rooms, etc.)...then have the teachers explain what's going on with all the boy/girl differentiation thing. THAT would be an education.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6708375.post-1156432667666366362006-08-24T11:17:00.000-04:002006-08-24T11:17:00.000-04:00[shrug] I don't care if they have their short devo...[shrug] I don't care if they have their short devotionals as long as they are extra-curricular. Schools are used for extra-curricular activities all the time. Of course, I would expect the schools to allow these sorts of activities by other religions, you know, a short sweet grass ceremony or two, letting the Muslim kids say their prayers, Hindu or Buddhist meetings, oh and definitely Wiccan and FSM ceremonies.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
