Just when you thought he couldn't get any dumber, ...

... he gets dumber:

Liberals urge extension of GG's term

Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff is calling for an extension to Gov. Gen. Michaëlle Jean's five-year term as the Queen's representative in Canada.

I was pondering an analogy involving battered women rarely leaving their partners, but that might have been in poor taste.

Anyhow that analogy works only if you're looking at it from Michäelle Jean's perspective.

But ... if you're scrutinizing Iggy's relationship to Stevie, with one as bully and the other, a compliant victim who prefers the evil that is familiar ... that is not a dynamic unique to domestic violence.

I deleted my earlier comment because it was dismissive, but I've reflected a bit longer about the complexities of those who wield power abusively.

I've been re-reading George Orwell books, letters and articles, which speak volumes about "those who wield power abusively".

Michäelle Jean has done a reasonable job as GG. However, the position is outdated and should not exist in 2010. Our parliamentary system needs to be modernized.

All of our political leaders have been increasingly guilty of irresponsible and stupid utterances. Watching these clowns in action makes me wonder if they know there was enlightenment in the 18th century.

The abuse of power is complex, the Iggy and Harper relationship is not. One is trying to keep power at any cost the other craves power at any cost, and on and on and on it goes in ever spiraling downward circles. The public, who need civics lessons desperately, keep voting for people who have reached their highest level of incompetence.

Um ... a reasonable and cogent comment. Who are you, and what have you done with Wayne?

When a person is in a fog they can only see clearly the things that are close to them. The person may not realize that they are in a fog if they can see far enough around them.

I realized that I was in the fog.... and stepped out.

One of the suggestions in the CBC article is...Preston Manning.
Blarf.
Ms. Jean doesn't seem so bad in comparison.

Preston Manning would be the most partisan choice - of course someone who rallied against this sort of thing while in public surely would not be sucking on the taxpayers tits at this stage, right?

Jean has been mostly a disaster - in the beginning, I remember so many Conservatives saying she was a bad choice mostly because she was black (yes it was thinly veiled) and her separatist husband.

Now that she has shown her more pliable than a contortionist to Conservative causes, she seems accepted. Heck, she even gets to cry MORE for her homeland to the detriment of other nations... The GG should not have made Haiti personal.

This just goes to show what a complete amateur Iggy is. The Liberals must realize what a dud they have as a leader if they can't poll higher with the Harper party rotting from the inside out...
Never have the NDP looked so good if only because they are not the Liberals nor the Connies...

Oh gawd! Making a plea to keep Michaelle Jean a second term? Yikes!

I am actually inclined to believe that following the granting of two prorogations to Brother Steve, I don't think she's being dumped to the curb by Steve this quickly. Remember, she is only leaving come September. Steve may feel the need to pull another disappearing act or call an election if Iggy doesn't negotiate with him. Steve, as usual, controls this agenda. Don't be fooled, after listening to and reading about Milliken's ruling, there is comfort for the Harpercons and certainly some room to maintain secrecy in the name of protecting the troops. Steve always negotiates in a position of strength, this is no exception.

Because of that and what Cherniak_WTF said above about her crying for Haiti, watch for her around October, November in the media as Canada's new special envoy to Haiti, or some other similarly fancy but insipid title with all the perks that go with it.

Yes, Steve would have had to put his ducks in a row and giving the black woman with the separatist hubby a cushy position is in his interests to be able to control the agenda.

Preston Manning? Oh Gawd! Now there's a fate worse than death. But unfortunately, given that Steve and Steve alone has this choice, Manning would be a safe bet.

The newly Harpercon stacked senate along with a partisan hack like Preston Manning as GG? Oh, Gawd help us all!

Gawd help us all!!

I know many have been lobbying for William Shatner, but that won't happen.

Oh and CC, I think the relationship between many Canadians and Brother Steve, as well as Iggy and brother Steve would merit the battered woman syndrome analogy.

That's exactly what's happening.

I prefer the analogy of sadist and masochist. When, oh when, will the NDP have balance of power again?

Most folks would say that telling a grieving woman to go and "fuck her grief" is a form of abuse.

Gene Rayburn said...

who said "fuck her grief"? I can't find that anywhere.

CC said...

So, bocanut, your idea of "abuse" is ... a complete stranger writing a mean blog post about you? Wow, but you conservatives are delicate crybabies, aren't you?

bocanut said...

Actually,I was pondering if an analogy about telling a grieving mother to "go fuck her grief"
might be in poor taste.

CC said...

Geez, boca, I love the way you frantically back-pedaled from accusations of "abuse" to simply showing poor taste. You do realize those two things are different, right?

Now, don't you have a dead hooker to bury?

Gene Rayburn said...

maybe he's been having a hoot of gas from his bbq tank

bocanut said...

You're the one who's pondering on one post that an analogy involving battered women rarely leaving their partners might be in your opinion poor taste.
On another post you tell a grieving woman to go "fuck her grief" because you don't agree with her.
Seems to me that you won't stand up for any abused women regardless if it's women being battered by partners or you abusing grieving mothers.

Gene Rayburn said...

ooh bocanut...champion of women's rights... and slow heat bbqing.

CC said...

There's that "abusing grieving mothers" shtick again. Seriously, boca, your definition of "abuse" actually extends to someone writing a single mean blog post? That's literally your idea of "abuse?" I say again, you whingers are the most fragile of whiny wallflowers, aren't you?

Now go bury that dead hooker. She's starting to smell bad.

bocanut said...

CC,admit you're in denial about your abuse of women and get help.

CC said...

Fine. If I promise not to be so mean to Stephen Taylor, will you go away?

bocanut said...

I'll go away if you apologize for telling the poor woman who lost a son to go and "fuck your grief"
It would be a decent thing to do especially before Mother's Day.

Gene Rayburn said...

Okay if CC does that will you just fuck off then boca?

liberal supporter said...

Why is telling the poor woman who lost a son to go and "fuck your grief" worse than said woman demanding more deaths of other peoples' sons, solely to make her feel better.
We don't let rapists like yourself have their way solely to make you feel better.
When will said poor woman apologize for demanding blood to make her feel better?

bocanut said...

Where's the proof that she demanded more deaths to solely make her feel better?
You're projecting your disgusting Liberal mindset upon a grieving mother as fact, you should be ashamed of yourself.
BTW,Are you accusing me of rape?

CK said...

bocanut, if we need to explain that to you...

Gawd, what is it with Conservatives that wish ill of everyone else? Why is it they insist that they make the rest of the world more miserable than them?

Gene Rayburn said...

have you seen bocanut's dating profile on Plentyoffish? If I looked like that I'd be bitter too.

Now go and fuck off boca... please, your pong is overwhelming.

She was quite clear that the mission must continue otherwise her son has died in vain. Feeling that her son might have died in vain is bad to her, despite my own view that he did not, regardless of what happens. But she does feel he might have died in vain, and she will feel better if the mission continues, which will result in more deaths. So she is demanding more deaths in order for herself to feel better. I see no other reason for this demand, given she was grieving over her son, hence "solely".

You're projecting your disgusting Liberal mindset upon a grieving mother as fact, you should be ashamed of yourself.
Her disgusting mindset is that her anguish is good enough reason for us to send others to their deaths, regardless of the merits of the mission. She clearly needs to feel better and others' deaths are a part of that. That is what is disgusting.
BTW, I happen to support the mission, just not the CPC leadership that is botching it and politicizing it for its own ends. They should be ashamed of themselves for doing that.

BTW,Are you accusing me of rape?
I believe you are anti-choice, which benefits rapists. Following CPC logic, which claims I support the Taliban because I don't support the CPC handling of the mission, you are therefore a rapist because you are anti-choice.

boca's arse must hurt from the reaming he just got.

I believe you are pro-choice, which benefits rapists. Following Liberal logic, which claims I support Canadian troops because I don't support Liberal accusations that Canadian soldiers are war criminals, you are therefore a rapist because you are pro-choice.

Gene Rayburn said...

really boca? Are you that pathetic to wait a few days than then respond?

Where did you get that Liberal logic boca? Doesnt change that under your logic you're still a rapist.

That arse must hurt a lot for you to have a rest before you respond.

Let the boca arse reaming continue.
