Tell me about "law and order" stuff again.

Cocaine? What cocaine? Drunk driving? What drunk driving? I await the inevitable outrage from Canada's staunch defenders of accountability.

Canada's Conservatives: Because laws are for other people.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Run away, run away!

He was doing powder, a rich person drug. I can only imagine what would have happened to him if he were caught with poor people drugs.

Well, I mean, come on... the right reaction to all of this is understanding of Helena Guergis' outburst in the Charlottetown airport... after all, all the strain she must have been under as she tried to swing getting the hubby out from under via her network... the cognitive dissonance alone must have been overwhelming!

i know the case is just grist for the mill but the problem with yr thesis cc is that there is this new fangled invention called an independent judiciary.

r u calling Mr. Justice Doug Maund corrupt?

Gallahad said...

So let me get this straight

Tough on crime tories
Law and order tories

Throw all the criminal fuckers in prison forever tories

Jaffer railing for years against

Soft on crime Liberal judges
Soft on crime justice system

Guess he's pretty happy guy with the Canadian justice system today,

Did any conservatives call for Jaffer to be sentenced to 100 years of hard labour.?

Backseat Blogger, I'm ready to call him less than impartial..

Well, turns out the judge in the case, Doug Maund is a long-time Tory:

When Brian Mulroney was prime minister, Maund was the chief of staff to Mulroney's health minister Perrin Beatty.
He backed Kim Campbell in the leadership race to succeed Mulroney
He was appointed to the Ontario bench in October, 2000 by the Ontario attorney general of the day, none other than current federal finance minister Jim Flaherty.

Add the hypocrisy of the law and order Conservatives... and well... draw your own conclusions....

John Baird has said that anyone who criticises Jaffer's getting off easy on this case is a Liberal who hates the troops.

Peter MacKay is planning to seal legal documents and police reports related to the incident.

Stephen Harper is going on The National to state that Canadians don't care about CPC hypocrisy and corruption.

No priors, politically sympathetic judge. It's not like jail time would have done anybody any good anyways.

If only we had a responsible, investigative, non-payola media who could investigate who exactly is dealing the coke to this couple (oh, you thought Guergis's tantrum in PEI was just hormones?).

It was a diversion. She thought that by arriving late and being so important and all, she'd get diplomatic treatment and avoid the swab a& spectro on her bag. When that didn't work, she threw the tantrum. That did work, it seems.

Blaming the judge is like picking the low hanging fruit. He can only rule on what the Crown puts in front of him. The Crown dropped the serious charges...that's where one should look for connections.
