In which Stephen Harper gets his pants yanked down and his pee-pee slapped.

Ouch ... that's gonna leave a mark:

PM scolded for delayed China visit

BEIJING–With words at once blunt and pointed, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao criticized Prime Minister Stephen Harper Thursday, admonishing him for not visiting China earlier during his time as Canadian leader.

Harper sat stone-faced during the rebuke – the words clearly stung...

The rebuke – rare in relations between two nations – came just a day after the Chinese media had given Harper a cool-to-cold reception, criticizing him on a wide range of issues.

In unrelated news, conservatives everywhere are still going batshit, dick-yanking crazy with rage over Barack Obama's bow, describing it as a diplomatic faux pas of hideous, unimaginable proportion.

Stone faced? He only had three expressions...stone-faced, twisted with rage and forced grin.

Anyway, I've got to find a clip of that. Rebuked, you say?

Gasp! The Chinese media criticized Stephen Harper! Oh, how devestating!

Or... not.

"The Chinese Communist Party holds the reins on reporting in three primary ways: (1) Registration and licensing for news organizations is mandatory and easily revocable by the central government; (2) Many media rely partly or wholly on the CCP for funds; and (3) The CCP appoints the executives within most media organizations."

Hmmmm. You almost get the sense that it's like these people know which side their bread is buttered on, and when the government tells them to criticize Canada...

So it's better if the Chinese government is criticizing Canada, rather than just the media? That's an....interesting take on it. I'd be more worried now, after it turns out not to just be the media (who can always claim to be acting as independent outlets, true or not), but the gov't itself. The Chinese government is willing to criticize in teh open and throw away plausible deniability. That's WORSE than the media alone, not better.

Hey, I thought this was a Twatsy-free zone now?

Uh, no, Adam. I'm not sure you understand.

When the Chinese media criticizes Canada, it is the government behind that.

The Chinese media has been reduced to a propaganda arm by the CCP.

But if you think the Chinese media has it bad, you'd probably be alarmed by precisely how bad Chinese lawyers have it.

Human Rights Watch is a real eye-opener.

Actually, I'm thinking about making every Thursday my designated day to swing by here and read to the old folks.

I know those bifocals of yours are fairly uncomfortable to wear.

Twatsy just likes to drop by to see what it feels like to have readers. Some day he plans on getting some of his own.

A few have tried. It never ends well.

I think this should be a Twatsy-free zone though, since he's been abusing the comment policy something fierce of blogs that don't ever delete comments under any circumstances. And since he's everwhere, we'll all be exposed to what he has to say eventually.

"he's been abusing the comment policy something fierce of blogs that don't ever delete comments under any circumstances."

Which certainly isn't true of this blog, is it, Robbie?

For example, I wonder what would happen if someone were to mention that little stunt you pulled regarding Richard Evans' kids, again...

Well PR, perhaps you should tell us all about the Richard Evans stunt, you silly libeler.

Then you can regale us with your spin on how impersonating others (when you're not performing as an impersonator) is somehow ok.

Then, "Roofie Ross", you can explain why you support the right of rapists to choose the mother of their children.

CC said...

Um ... what stunt would that be, Patrick? No, really, I'm sure my readers would like to know. Be specific. Be detailed. And make sure you accuse me by name.

But don't do it here, because then you'd still have the ability to delete that comment when it became inconvenient. Make that accusation on your own blog. Seriously. Have fun. Go wild. But, again, be specific. Be clear. Be unambiguous. Does that work for you?

Could we please focus on Patrick moving the goalposts. Again...

CC quoted thusly:

"Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao criticized Prime Minister Stephen Harper".

The post isn't about the media, it's about the diplomatic slap in the face. From the Chinese PM. We all understand that the media is government controlled, but that isn't the point.

Italics are fun!

Here's a thought, Patrick -- I feel like deleting your comments until you actually lay out, in detail, what you're accusing me of. On your blog. Does that sound fair? Seriously, take your time and publicly accuse me of ... whatever it is you're accusing me of.

Until then, piss off. You do have your own blog, even though no one reads it.

P.S. I while now, of course, be accused of censorship. I care.

Why? That's what he wants us to do.

If *we* were moving the goalposts, he'd stay focused. Maybe we should try that?

Nah. That won't work either. Best to call the paramedics and let them handle it.

...oh. I see CC already has.

Show's over. Everyone move on.

No, Patrick. The goalposts are staying where they are.

Why is PR claiming the Toronto Star (which reported the story in the topic of this post) is somehow the Chinese CCP controlled media?

Harper must be drooling at the idea of the media criticizing anyone he plans to criticize the next day.

Maybe he can push through "loyalty oaths" so all media have to swear loyalty to him or they lose their licenses.

PR of course hopes to finally get a real job to fill the numerous vacancies that would become available, either in the media itself, or as a torturer for the new jails to house most of the current disloyal media.

Because Lulu told us to not poke the Twatsy, and I don't listen.

So when is Harper going to tell the troops that the Chinese have accused them of being slow to visit, but he is standing right beside them?
