Reality: It's a progressive thing.

Ti-Guy brings our attention to Blogging Tory Paul E. Marek, who opines that it's such a cool story, whether or not it's true is, you know, optional:

Tom: I have no idea if the posted "pin drops" are myths, or if they are simply intended to be parables or allegory. The point that they get across is clear; and based on history.

Yes, of course ... whether or not those fables are myths is irrelevant since they're, you know, "based on history." I'd suggest it's not physically possible to be more deranged than that, but I'd be lying:

Whether this turns out to be the truth or not, that is irrelevant.

Stephen Taylor should be proud. Seriously. It takes guts to assemble a collection of bloggers that have absolutely no interest whatsoever in reality. And aren't even embarrassed to admit it publicly.

That's quite the accomplishment.

BONUS TRACK: And in the spirit of Blogging Tory free speech warriorism, Mr. Marek has no interest whatsoever in your opinion.

It's an interesting world they inhabit. Myths are true if they support the ideology: facts are unimportant if they don't.

Surely there's a minimal quota of reality a human being to function?

I think it's more the double-standard: *Our* myths don't have to be subjected to examination. *Yours* do.

I've given up on the whole reality thing, ever since reading this: Goldman Does God’s Work, Only Not That Well.

If this is how well-educated, powerful, influential people think (or want us to believe they do, in any case), reality has, in fact, ceased to matter.

Fake, but since they reinforce the bigoted nationalist stereotypes I cling to, I'll pass 'em on as though they're true!

I feel you're being too judgmental over BT Marek's really cool story. Just because someone else used this line first doesn't mean that Stephen Harper didn't use it second. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/politicalbytes/2008/09/google_reveals_similarities_be.html
