Deep political thoughts in 140 characters or less.

These people elected George W. Bush in 2004. Nothing will surprise me in the future. President Palin? Sure, why the hell not? Besides, Obama won't have cured America by then, so obviously, he'll need to go.

Say what you want, Ti-Guy, but I know one Canadian who respects and honors George W. Bush by his every deed, or, at least, his every other deed — Steven Harper — and if Sarah does win Steverino's going to go rogue.

The Seer, Steve is going to do much more than go rogue: He will go Rogue WITH see Sawah run and then hell begins...unless by some miracle, Iggy goes and we get a strong leader for the Liberals and they magically move up.

As for that tweet, she may not necessarily run as a GOPer. If you haven't heard, the Tea-baggers now have official party status now; known, of course as the Tea-Party Party; See Sawah run will run for Tea-bagger party.

The Tea Party Party?

That would make it the TeePeePee, right?

...who is PM on the strength of 22% of the eligible electorate in a five-party system.

Sorry, but you'll have to come up with a more compelling counter-argument to dissuade me from believing that "loony" will continue to work in the USA.

The TeePeePee: OMG! Even funnier than CRAP!

I'm tending to chime with Ti-Guy here: 'loony' still very much works for the US.

I run a multinational webforum (mostly Brits, Yanks, Aussies, Kiwis, Canucks and South Africans) and the sense of selective amnesia you get from some [Republican - and this season's latest fashion "Libertarian"] Americans, where Bush jnr is concerned just illustrates flagrant denial (apparently he did nothing wrong whatsoever whilst in office, and the last 18 months of global turmoil are the sole fault of Obama and his "socialist" policies...).

PS: I think I might have rattled Justin Hoffer's cage on his 'Raging Molly' blog site.

Oops...

Oh, and sorry, forgot to mention, apropos the thread's title: I've asked Dr Ben Goldacre (author of the 'Bad Science' website) to conduct an empirical study into the links between Twitter abuse and the on-set of Tourette's Syndrome.

Oh, and I posted this on Twitter a few months ago:

"Twitter: the Web's latest amateur porn outlet - where a vocabulary of only 140 characters is considered verbose!"

In fact, if you want to see precisely the kind of GOP Palin will inherit (assuming she does run), here it is:

The DC Tea Party - and how H.L. Mencken observed Democracy

The specimens on the clip are disconcerting to say the least.

Oh well, Sarah Palin won't be as bad as George W. Bush and the world survived him.

Cosmic Navel Lint said...

The world may have survived him, but thousands of innocent Iraqis and Afghans didn't. Nor was US image abroad improved or enhanced.

The wider question is one to see whether Americans actually possess any realisation of what their perception outside their own borders is; and if they elect another functional illiterate like Gump/Bush jnr, them how will they react to the international community giving it the communal bird?

Sawah could be a lot worse: she's even dumber than Georgie and even more of a war mongering, 'socialist' fearing wingnut.

As mentioned earlier, The tea-baggers are now a political party like the GOP and Democrats; all official and everything: The TeePeePee; catchy ain't it? The Tea Party Party is name of it. Sawah could well run for that; honestly, I think she's burned her bridges with the GOP; if that weren't done before, her book will certainly have accomplished that.

So she'll split the right - good for her.

sooey said...

Although... Preston Manning did that and now his protogee, Stephen Harper, is Prime Minister.

Better prepare for President Palin, is my advice.

Ti-Guy said...

I don't think she'll split the American Right. From what I can see, what's left of it is just like her and her cohort (face it, there aren't too many Eisenhower Conservatives left in that country).

What worries me more is that people will vote GOP no matter who's the candidate; they don't have any choice. Sawah would be an ideal puppet for the oligarchs who actually run the country and by that time, they may have decided that Obama has to be replaced.

It the American people really care about their country, they better make sure she's utterly destroyed by the beginning of next year.

Without sex tapes, she's virtually indestructable. Only sex tapes can destroy beauty queen politicians.
