"So what you're saying is ..."

You're not going to believe this. OK, maybe you will. PZ warns everyone, in absolutely no uncertain terms, that all those visiting Ken Ham's "Creation Museum" must be on their best behaviour. Seriously, read the whole thing to be assured that PZ is giving everybody fair warning that he will tolerate no disrespect or incivility. Of any kind.

We then have someone who takes artistic license with the possibilities, which is clearly a riff off of PZ's treatment at the movie "Expelled" and involves creationist Ken Ham confronting PZ and expelling him, at which point PZ and his hordes transmogrify into killer cephalopods and do battle with Ken Ham, who mounts his dinosaur and ... well, you get the idea. Goofiness reins supreme.

Except for this brainless twatwaffle commenter over there:

So... Atheists wish that they'd initiate a violent conflict at the Creation Museum? That really says a lot.

And who might so thoroughly misrepresent someone's cartoonish attempt at humour? No, not him. You have to hop into the Wayback Machine to truly appreciate the monumental dishonesty.

Yes, they really are that stupid. Or dishonest. Pick one.

P.S. In unrelated news, Ann Coulter didn't really mean it when she suggested killing Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens with rat poison. Because that was clearly just a joke. Right?

Oh, that's just Jinx, he's one of the regular retards at Conservapedia (although he lost a lot of his rights even there) and rather a fan of the phrase "penis-stuffed bums". We've got a bit on him over at the wiki of rationality.

Only if it involves killer cephalopods. Because us Atheists worship killer cephalopods... they are like gods to us. Awesomely cool gods that change colours and squirt ink! And they could kick the crap out of your god.

You can see the historical fun we had with Jinx if you search this blog for the appellation "Weasel Boy." But I suspect you have better things to do with your time.

Not only atheists and not just cartoon violence either. But, we all realise we live in a society of laws and norms for public behaviour.

I seem to have been gradually losing respect for PZ. I had to drop him from my reader feed a few months ago. He's really in love with being a blog celebrity, and it becomes quite grating.

It's a place people go to feel smart and superior. And yet they are not above trolling any random website that has never even heard of them. I guess that's how they demonstrate their superiority. PZ not only condones this, he orchestrates it. It got to the point where every time he issued an order to disrupt a forum or stack a web poll I could not help but imagine the wrinkly grey chubby it must have given him to do so.

Now I learn that he's going to troll the Creationist Museum. What is this supposed to achieve?

If you check out the polls that he has sent his readers to, you will see that they are absurdly stoooopid.

ie "Did Jesus help you today - Yes or No"

BTW Jesus Freaks go to Disneyland, Atheists to the Creationist "Museum" And yes, air quotes are appropriate.

Geekwad said...

SQ, I know. All the better to lord over. It's like kicking children.

Jesus freaks also go to the Grand Canyon National Park and argue with staff about young Earth creationism.

SQ, I know. All the better to lord over. It's like kicking children.

Except they're not children. They're adults, who are allowed to vote and give money to influential Christian Mullahs who distort politics and public education.

They're lucky no one's thought of putting them into concentration camps...yet.

Southern Quebec said...

Exactly! As adults they have to take responsibility for Teh Stoopid. You want to do a "poll", ask a real question.

This "museum" is a joke and deserves to be treated as such. Jesus made this rock, and the dinosaur and blah blah blah. Children should not be allowed there.

Geekwad, I think you might be one of "those" kinds of people who don't even bother to read the science entries written by PZ, or one of the types who can't understand those articles and therefore whinge and moan about him lording it over others because you, in your heart of hearts, realize you're not nearly as smart as you'd like to think you are.

You would also appear to be one of those illiterate buffoons who can't read a masthead, or bother to look at any of the stuff outside of the boxes where PZ puts all the pretty pictures. Want to know why I get that impression from you? If you HAD bothered to read any of that, you'd see quite quickly why you're coming off as a whiny arsehole with zero reading comprehension.

It would seem I have an unpopular opinion. I'm not sure what I said to invite all this speculation into my nature and demographic classification. Oh well, I should know better than to post on Canadian political blogs. It's just a pointless argument waiting to happen.

For the record, I started reading PZ when he moved to ScienceBlogs (2005), because I also have an interest in cephalopods. I also had an interest in atheist politics at the time. I was impressed that he was willing to put his name and professional reputation on some of the outrageous (by US standards) things he said. Mostly, though, I was interested in the evolutionary biology articles.

Then the drama. Expelled and Stein, okay, I guess he had a stake in that. Conservapedia and Shafly. The Eucharist thing and the Catholic Leauge. The atheist bus "controversies". The back and forth sniping with Ken Ham. And on and on. Constant clumsy attempts at forcing confrontations.

Meanwhile the community that had begun fawning him became ever more juvenile, abusive and uninformed. Even filtering out the people who were there just to cause trouble, I defy anyone here to read through the comments of any article from the last year and not start to loose your cool.

I don't know why I am attempting to justify myself here. I am just surprised that I am the only one who feels this way. I'm not surprised, however, to find I am being attacked for my opinion.

Ti-Guy said...

To tell you the truth, I never read the comments over there. Just the posts. Blogs that tend to have on average more than 30 comments per post are just not worth it. You can bet each one of them is simply a manifestation of Godwin's law in one form or another.

nice use of the passive tense. or is that the passive aggressive tense?

"It's like kicking children."

what an ugly way to put it.

It wasn't sarcastic. I don't think anyone can be original anymore, not with teh Toobz. Now, novelty seems to be all about context.

Geekwad, I believe it is spelted "lose" not loose. The topic is 'cool' of certain bloggers, not the sphincter of Republican wide stance politicians.

Geek - Do you have regular dealings with the brain-damaged minions of Creationism? Are they chewing on your ass and making a mockery of your life's work on a daily basis?

I know that I'd get right pissed off in a hurry and snap back in some fashion. PZ uses his Phrayngulites to chew on idiotic Creationist and Religious websites. He uses his blog to vent some stress and take the piss out of the idiots who deserve it.

I respect him all the more for being a bit devious and having some iron in his backbone.
