Of tapes and hoists and petards.

Go. Read. And even though the injunction looks like it's going to be dismissed, let me point out what is surely going to be the basis for much shrieking hypocrisy from Stephen Taylor's Mouthbreather Central. Writes Impolitical:

So a private citizen is arguing that the tape is her personal property and should not be the subject of publication? Despite the tape having been made while in the employ of a cabinet minister? If you lose a tape recorder with such information on it, do you retain a right to prevent a news organization from publishing material of interest to the public on it?

A travesty, they will bitch! A violation of privacy, they will moan! How dare they? But remember, these are the same folks who couldn't giggle hard enough when CTV aired the false starts of Stephane Dion when he was being interviewed and had to go back and restart when he admitted he didn't understand the question.

Ha ha! they howled until tears ran down their cheeks! Who cares if Dion didn't want those bits aired? He doesn't get to make that choice, they sniggered. It's in the public interest to see that Dion is an imbecile, they chuckled.

Ah, but now, it's different. It always is, isn't it?

OH, YEAH ... there's this. There's just no end to the awesome, is there?

Early comments from the rightards can be found here:

Apologist brainfarts

Strangely, they only focus on one very small portion of the tape, and forget to mention the part where Raitt makes it clear that the isotope crisis is a sexy career-booster, given all of the cancer and people dying and stuff.

Gotta be said - no it doesn't - my shaet left in a public washroom is personal property and not subject to anal ysis.
Same said(you see where I am going) for spit and blood and other DNA revealing fluids.

I fucking commit a criminal code violation, like trespassing(long story), and I got no rights to privacy.

What, tapeworms are personal property, yet stepping inside a fence and I got no rights? I get suspected, let alone arrested, and I get fingerprinted. My shaet gets catalogued.

I fucking procure sensitive documents(not shit tissue) trhat affect a nation, potentially, and I get a fucking walk?
