Stay classy, Liberals.

It's not that the Nova Scotia Liberals sent out a topless pic of a provincial NDP opponent. No, it's the classless apology that followed it:

Glennie Langille, the Liberals' director of communications, sent out a brief statement.

"The L Word is a very popular TV show. These images are in the public domain. The shows were broadcast. It's part of the public record. That's our only comment," said Langille.

Where I come from, that's what you call conceding the high ground.

wow. I didn't know the Libs were having their flacks trained by Karl Rove.

C'mon, CC...you posted the pics of the nekkid mayor on your blog. I don't think you're in any position to judge the class of others.

I'm a Liberal supporter, so I thankfully am under no illusions that they (or I) occupy any moral high ground. It just depends on the circumstance; sometimes classlessness is productive, sometimes it isn't.

the liberals are proving to be every bit the high class act that the cons are. choosing between the liberals and conservatives is like sitting at the table and trying to decide whether to sink your spoon into a big steaming bowl of bile or to dig into a pile of warm guano.

Democracy. Don't you just love it?

Remind me of how you voted last time. You thought the Liberal candidate (Karen Redman) was safe so you voted for some candidate you knew nothing about. Then Redman lost by a slim margin and now your MP is a right wing crap sack.

You get the democracy you deserve.

Ti-Guy, I think the argument could be made that the mayor was not displayed here because she was nude, but because she was using the political props of her office for personal erotic titillation games, thus screwing over the dignity of the office while making the usual whomp about family values. If the photo of her had not directly involved her public office and what she apparently thought of it, I doubt it would have shown up on a lot of blogs.

The Nova Scotia case seems more like 'ooh look conservative sorts, this *female* candidate is a practising THESPIAN!11!!!11' with all the attendant innuendo of the L word in a community where that baggage has history.

The disappointment for me is that anyone calling themselves official Liberals and willing to hear speeches from Justin Trudeau as a Good Thing TM, would stoop to catering to social conservative views like that...and then claim *as a party* well gosh, the pix are out there, why can't our *official* releases behave like prurient 12 year olds passing around naughty screencaps from HBO?

I don't know. *I* would have posted them simply to stick it the Conservative hypocrites.

I'm not burdened by moral superiority.

well ti, i voted for a no hope independent because she responded to my email, i liked her policy positions and while i did go with the assumption that redman would hold her seat i was certainly not a fan of hers. in fact after numerous attempts to get clarification on policy from redman's office over the last couple of years i got not one response from her. i'm sure as hell not crying that she lost to a con who actually campaigned for the seat. sure he's a bible whomping yahoo but it isn't as though the liberals aren't home to that sort either. at the end of the day, i voted for the better candidate so i'm content. it isn't as though there's much of a difference between the current version of the liberals and the cons. so thanks for being all precious and stuff.

"I'm not burdened by moral superiority."

you forgot to disavow smugness.

Why would I do that?

Are we done here? Just sayin'...

Ti-Guy,

You know, it's funny. The ONLY time you sound stupid is when you're shilling for the Liberals.

You might want to look into that.

Sorry. I'll vote NDP next time.
