National Organization for Marriage (NOM) Ad Campaign

The always frisky Boing & Boing Inc. bring us the scintillating, fear mongering lies of those afflicted with religion. These poor snot whistlers are so frightened of our gay brothers and sisters that they are assembling campaigns of deep fibbery to prevent the unlikely recognition of love between consenting adults from finding official sanction in Amurka. Some day in the far future our neighbours to the south will grow up and embrace tolerance. 'Til then, I vote zombie wall, 'cos you can smell the fearful wee from here!

And here are the poor losers that weren't good enough to reach the level of stupid required to bark shit and whine. The auditions of the failed...

As an actor, I can't help but be ashamed of these folks. Maybe they see it as just another audition for just another commercial gig but there's some things you just don't lend your image to. Hawking hate for the crazies is just wrong, no matter the pay scale.

One has to wonder how many of the very mercenary actors were gay. Or do these folks recruit from apsotively straight and narrow talent agencies? If there is such a thing.

Hey, I'm a California doctor, too!

Ahem, "I am from Canada, and I am a sociologist that is very worried that same sex marraige in the U.S. will destroy our civilization by proxy. Our beer commercials will be forced in ways that they have the freedom to not be right now."

I'm a Canadian sociologist*. I believe you fucking Americans will be better off putting this behind you and moving the fuck on. If you think anyone believes the high divorce rate, teen pregnancy, children born out of wedlock and rampant adultery are going to be mitigated by preventing gays from marrying, then you're a moral imbecile.

*I'm not really a sociologist.

Sorry couldn't resist!

Anyhow this will dry up and blow away in a few months. They'll have to bring up religion sometime!

The audition vid has been pulled by NOM.
You know what would fix this crap?
If we make all marriages civil unions and the xians can have a church one too if they like.
End of story.

Alison,

Aren't marriage in Canada considered civil unions, not religious unions? That's the impression I was under when I was working for the city of Kitchener-Waterloo performing marriage ceremonies.

I didn't know it was different in the U.S.

The Marriagers had that second video pulled due to a "copyright claim" FYI.

Christopher, not at all! Formal marriages are ratified by the government, just as in the U.S., so you get married by signing the marriage document. You can choose to PAY for a civil official to perform the ceremony, or you can have it done in your church. All marriages are civil in the sense that they affect inheritance, etc. Churches are free to perform ceremonies or to refuse to perform them. No church is forced to perform same-sex marriages. Some do and some don't. All formal marriages, whether performed in a church or by a justice of the peace, have the same force of law.

Cynic, here's the antidote video, a beautiful tribute to love and plea for same-sex marriage called "Fidelity" by the Courage Campaign.
