Dear Sandy: You keep using that word "accomplishment" ...

For no good reason, let's revisit the list of Conservative government "accomplishments" compiled by official Stephen Harper fluffer Sandy Crux, where we read:

(#46.) Public transit tax credits (Link)

So, Sandy ... how did that vaunted transit tax credit work out? Oops ...

A public transit tax credit announced in 2006 as a way to cut emissions by 220,000 tonnes per year will in fact "lead to negligible reductions" based on the government's own revised estimates, according to Scott Vaughan's audit of various government tools to reduce air emissions. As well, the means to measure its actual impact haven't yet been created, it said.

You can expect Sandy to correct her list right about when she unwraps her lips from Stephen Harper's massive wang. Don't count on that happening any time soon.

Gotta admit, Sandy's accomplishment list is becoming a handy, concise guide for examining Stephen Harper's many, many, many failures.

I predict it will disappear soon.

I like the transit credit. I know it utterly fails to live up to its glorious goals (like everything else Harpy says/does), but I like it if for nothing else it gets a couple people on the bus, which means out of my fucking way. :)

That tax credit saves me buttloads of cash on my assorted YRT, TTC, and GO passes.
Not successful at its intended purpose, but a rare success for Stevie H.

It has probably cost more to administer than the benefits it has generated.

I'd rather they put money into better transit and into reducing the fares.

Anarchore, I'd ask to subscribe to your newsletter, but I fear you may actually have one.
