Let me explain this to you very slowly ...

Blogging Tory "Gay and Right" Fred seems a little unclear on the concept:

Gee, so far the reaction from Conservatives to Gay Dominion has been terrific. Lots of positive comments on this blog and directly to the Gay Dominion e-mail. Last night, I was on Calgary radio and the hosts were totally supportive. The only people who are unhappy seem to be left-wing bloggers - they just can't understand how a gay person can have conservative thoughts.

Oh, dear ... you might want to pull up a chair there, Fred ... I suspect we're going to be here a while.

Why wouldn't they be welcoming of an unpaid stooge willing to stab his own people in the back? As long as he doesn't get too looney-tunes on other issues (like Chris Reid) they'll be welcoming. They've needed a replacement for John McKellar for a while now, since he's mercifully faded from the scene.

He led an "organization" called Homosexuals Opposed to Pride Extremism and was a good buddy of Ken Campbell. There was never any evidence that his organization consisted of anyone but himself and his ego, but he'd get quoted in newspapers all the time as if he represented a legitimate viewpoint that was opposed to all rights of any kind for gays.

His lustre faded a bit when one of his employees recognized his name in the paper and pointed out that he ran a male escort service.

They still quote him adoringly on FreakDominion and Lifeshite. This is the fate that awaits Uncle Fred. If he wants to get into bed with the scum of the earth, he's welcome to. But I'm certainly not going to consider him a moral, decent person for doing so.

Your caption should be:

HEY!!! Those are our Homosexuals, only the left can have Homosexuals......

Face it, the CPC has gay people, brown people, white people, old people, young people etc. etc. and even women!!!!

They are conservative people.

Ain't reality a bitch.

Now get over it.

But most of all, the Conservative Party has STUPID people.

Mind-bogglingly stupid people. And in the case of gay people, mind-bogglingly stupid people linking up with people who, from day one, have opposed even the tiniest measure of equality for them.

You're right, Wayne, it was a bad caption. A better one might have been, "Curiously, given an ideological choice, some gays prefer to ally themselves with those who have vilified them, denigrated them, demeaned them, stripped them of their basic civil rights and, every so often, beaten them to death for having a different sexual orientation. Doesn't that just beat all?"

There you go, Wayne. Better?

P.S., Wayne. You really are unspeakably fucking stupid. Seriously. Words fail me.

Well, I just find it a little opportunistic (and morally suspect) that this guy is riding "gay conservatism" to celebrity now that the rest of us have helped clear the way by getting rid of the last legal hurdles that relegated them to second class citizenship. I don't know where he was when the rest of us where challenging the flawed logic, the pseudo-science and the outright dishonesty (over and over and over and over...) that was being used to deny gays and lesbians their Charter rights to equal treatment before and equal benefit from the law.

And where will he be when the exact same sophistry is used to keep others in a state of second class citizenship?

Oh, that's right. He's a conservative...he's alright, Jack!

Well, they can have him, frankly.

YES! In fact, The Economist says so, here: http://www.economist.com/world/unitedstates/displaystory.cfm?story_id=12599247

To quote an editorial from last Thursday, "The Republican Party’s current “redneck strategy” will leave it appealing to a shrinking and backward-looking portion of the electorate.

Why is this happening? One reason is that conservative brawn has lost patience with brains of all kinds, conservative or liberal. Many conservatives—particularly lower-income ones—are consumed with elemental fury about everything from immigration to liberal do-gooders. They take their opinions from talk-radio hosts such as Rush Limbaugh and the deeply unsubtle Sean Hannity. And they regard Mrs Palin’s apparent ignorance not as a problem but as a badge of honour.

...trapped in an ideological cocoon, defined by its outer fringes, ruled by dynasties and incapable of adjusting to a changed world."

Go, read. Lots more mockery goodness.
