Brilliant.

So ... anyone want to start a pool on just how long it takes for the Republicans to use the colour of the General’s skin as the defining factor behind his endorsement?

It can't be a bet if we all agree - is what I was about to say before I saw sheena's comment.

It's already started...

...OK, maybe not the Republicans just yet but certainly wingnut 'pundits' and bloggers.

Did someone say, 'Powell Shows His True Colors'?

Expect 'pals around with domestic terrorists' any minute now.

It began almost right away on CNN. In fact, it was called a "fair question to ask."

I'll believe any of this matters on November 4th. I still don't know what voting shenanigans we'll be seeing.

And let's all remember the Bradley Effect.

Maybe you should remind us of what it is first.

It's what they talked about on CBC this morning, sooey.

Did they?

I only heard about it last week...on Left, Right and Centre., I think. Then I did something wonderful...I googled it.

Didn't McCain start the 'colour' scheme by his response to Powell's endorsement as being "understandable" and then went on, not to explain WHY it was understandable Powell would endorse Obama instead of McCain, but to state M was supported by four other ex-White House personages. Sounded like a dog-whistle to me.

Maybe he meant because Powell is relatively sane, it is understandable that he would support the sane candidate for President.

Okay. The thread is dying anyway, so I'm just going to out with it, "Colin Powell is black?!"

As you were.
