Thanks for playing anyway, Damian.

Blogging Tory and Open Bathrobe Media member Damian Penny goes all Boy Detective Steve Janke on us:

Fact-checking McCain-Palin

Politifact says McCain is stretching the truth about Palin and the "Bridge to Nowhere" ("Palin didn't kill it, she just performed the last rites.") ...

"Stretching the truth," are those the weasel words the kids are using these days, Damian? CBS puts it another way:

(CBS) Its one of those claims that gets so much applause.

"I told Congress 'thanks but no thanks,' to that bridge to nowhere," Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has said over and over on the campaign trail, CBS News correspondent Wyatt Andrews reports.

Palin just won't let it go. But the truth is the governor never rebuffed Congress. Here are the facts.

After a year of supporting the proposed bridge, near Ketchikan, Palin pulled state funds from the project, which killed the bridge for good, but she never said "no thanks" to the Federal funds promised by Congress - $233 million. ...

By repeating the claim she said no thanks to the bridge, the implication is that she confronted a spendthrift Congress recklessly wasting money.

The record shows she wanted that bridge until the end and kept the money.

So thanks for coming, Damian but, if you don't mind, we grownups can handle it from here.

Wow. Look at the comment from Mike there. He knows she lied... I mean the point he's making is based on the fact that she lied, but he just completely overlooks it to make an absurd observation that misses the point by 1000 miles.

I'd rather not. Mike H. is psychotic and I mean that very seriously. I've sometimes suspected he's nomennovum.

It's one of the reasons I can't abide Damian's (who, rare among Conservative bloggers, verges on reasonable) blog: most of his regulars are raving lunatics.

ti-guy, his blog and Chuckers are the same, run by reasonable people who either let their regulars run amok or wind them up for fun.
