"Shockingly bad."

Oh, look ... an interesting moment of lucidity from CNN:

And that bit about John McCain's "personal story?" Apparently, John McCain was once a POW! Did you know that? I never knew that! Because, allegedly, John McCain never talks about that.

Well, OK, maybe only on national television at the Republican convention. But that's different.

MORE MOMENTS OF LUCIDITY: Even former Bush speechwriter Michael Gerson panned McCain's speech:

but you can always get some entertainment value in seeing just how far over members of Canada's Blogging Tories will bend over and lube up when called upon. Oh, look, here's Prairie Tory:

Bill Kristol on The Speech.

I think Bill got it right here. This was a great speech, and the appointment of Sarah Palin (so far at least *cross my fingers*) is proving to be a great move.

And fawning, reach-around sycophancy wouldn't be complete without the tail-waggingly obedient, Astroglide-inspired stenography of Jonathan Strong, who insists on reminding everyone of ...:

[McCain] was rudely interrupted by a few code-pink nut jobs who couldn't show a war hero the respect he's earned from 5 years in a POW camp in North Vietnam, but they were drowned out by the patriotism of the crowd.

Wow. McCain was a POW? I didn't know that. Did you know that? I never knew that. Thanks, Jonathan.

To be fair, Michael Gerson is a complete and utter ass.

Btw, they were playing Journey there after the speech; was it actually a shout-out to Hillary's nomination campaign? And did they get permission for that? Just askin'.

Well, Strong is an idiot and a "true believer" and figures any slack-jawed moron labeled "right" must be the same as him.

Meanwhile, as Lore has pointed out, Obama is actually closer to the CPC than any of the Rethugs.

Just goes to show that these guys really don't have a clue what there are talking about...
