And we’re off to a glorious start.

Never let it be said that Big Daddy can’t (or won’t) take the high road when the option is presented to him.

Asked whether he saw his chief rival as a family man, he said: "I don't know Stephane Dion all that well. I presume that he's been married a long time, has children. I presume he's a family man also."

Dion has a wife and daughter.

Stay classy, Big Daddy — stay classy.

H/T to Impolitical who has so much more to say. Go. Read.

Yes, now.

But, I also like the thought of this. And I've been thinking that for a while now. ;-)

I really really dislike Dion, think he's a prat, but even I know that he has a wife and kids... wtf?

Asked whether he believes Harper is opposed to puppy strangling, Dion replied: "I don't know Steve Harper very well. I guess he has been kind to animals, maybe had a family pet. I presume he's against the killing of innocent puppies, but I don't know for sure."

This is rich. For some time now, Harper has been slagging Dion in a fairly nasty ad campaign in which the ads end suggest that Dion is "not a leader." Now we learn that Harper doesn't even know basic personal details about his primary opponent. I know that Harper is considered to be a brilliant leader in some quarters in this country, but this just runs counter to the dictum of "know your enemy and yourself."

Fuck civility.

Harper and the Conservatives should be groin punched hard, often and publicly. At every chance.

I'm going to spoil my ballot - I don't much like any of them - but I really want to see the authoritarian socon prigs in the Conservative party decimated.

It's called pandering to his base....

I do hope his son is being trained for the military and his daughter to be a stepford...

If Impolitical allowed comments I'd tell him that the best thing for Canada would be if the Liberal Party of Canada fukkin' died and stopped confusing people.

But, yeah, i'd expect Harper to know something about Dion having a family or not.

Is it possible that this is just an example of our soon-to-be-former PM's ineffable brand of humour? That we've finally found the wit and soul of the renaissance man who is Stephen Q. Everyman Harper?

I presume he'd spell it humor, use the American spelling. I presume he'd think it was funny also.
