When hacktacular propagandists are easily impressed.

Whoo hoo ... good news!

Canada's military will soon be getting new medium-lift helicopters and unmanned surveillance drones, Defence Minister Peter MacKay announced on Thursday.

At a press conference in Longueuil, Que., MacKay said Ottawa will lease up to six Russian-made choppers and later buy six used U.S.-made Chinook helicopters.

Hot damn ... it's about fucking time! I hear those Chinooks are pretty decent machines. Say, refresh my memory ... didn't we used to have a whole fleet of Chinooks? Oh, right:

Canada's Old Choppers Doing Duty for Dutch

Sold In 1990S; Old Chinooks still in service in Afghanistan

KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, Afghanistan - There was a touch of irony in a recent ceremony at Kandahar Airfield for a Royal Netherlands Air Force helicopter that passed its 10,000th hour of operation. The old workhorse of an aircraft once belonged to Canada until it sold its entire fleet of Chinooks to the Dutch as a cost-cutting effort in the early 1990s.

Now, while Canadian soldiers wait for a squadron of their own new helicopters to airlift them over the bomb-infested roads of Kandahar province, the Dutch are happily using our old fleet.

Well, shag me twice ... who the smeg was responsible for that lameass decision? Oh ...

In fact, all seven of the Chinooks the Mulroney government sold to the Dutch air force are still flying today and are rotated through missions to Afghanistan.

Of course, idiots who are unaware of that historical tidbit will continue to be unduly impressed.

You had to know that was coming.

The Mulrony government made many mistakes (Airbus, GST, selling off the Chinooks, etc etc.). Mulrony also was not a friend of the CF on many other accounts as well. But he was a dman site better then the lying douchebag who followed him.

AM:

Please try to focus. This post was about a decision made by the Mulroney government and how it directly affects a current issue.

I really don't want you to get into the habit of "But ... but ... but ... the Liberals." You're better than that. Don't let me down.

Mulroney was only paving the way for Karl to come in and rain kickbacks to everyone friendly with the admin....

On come on, that is a bit harsh.

Kim Campbell wasn't that bad.

Kim Campbell gave us the LSVW. She is worse.

No, I am not forgiving the village idiot Mulroney one bit. But do not sit there and try and say that cretin was any better for this nation. He sure as hell was not good for the CF. Education. Health Care. The environment. Infrastructure. What the hell was he good for?

We traded one idiot for another. That is what usually happens in an election.

I'm so glad that the economy is going swell under Harper - he's almost bestest teh record for jobs lost....

Actually, the jobs lost have very little to do with Harper, especially in in automotive industry. They have everything to do with corperate greed (Bell) and stupidity (GM).

Despite all of this, the economy is not doing as badly as you would think. There are still jobs to be had. Hell, most of us could move to Alberta, and get better (paying) jobs then the ones we currently hold.

I was there, Alpha. Big money if you have special skill sets. Slightly-larger-than-national-average money and a tent to live in if you have less special skill sets, because the price of housing is nuts -- or was 12 months ago. Not sure if this has changed, anyone know?
