He's in, he's out, he's in, he's out ...

... which seems to be the only appropriate lede when talking about a child-abusing Catholic priest who can't seem to make up his mind about his Order of Canada and what to do with it.

"Larre returns Order of Canada in protest," screams the Saskatoon Star Phoenix. But wait ... what's this very first sentence of that very article?

A B.C. priest is returning his Order of Canada after abortion activist Dr. Henry Morgentaler received the same award Tuesday.

Ah ... he hasn't actually returned it, then, but he "is" returning it. Not quite the same thing, is it?

The Canadian Press fucks up in a similar way:

Controversial BC priest renounces Order of Canada after Morgentaler honoured

So he's given it back, has he? You'd never know it from reading the entire article. And here's the Globe and the Post, disagreeing entirely.

Controversial priest returns Order of Canada in protest

VANCOUVER — When Catholic priest Lucien LarrĂ© shipped his Order of Canada back to Ottawa on Wednesday, he became the first person in the history of the award to return his medal as a gesture of protest.

National Post, July 8:

Hall said no one has returned a medal since the announcement about Dr. Morgentaler's recognition. It had been reported that a Catholic priest in Vancouver would send his medal back but he has yet to do so, the spokeswoman said.

Would anyone like to clarify this fiasco? It seems like the child-abusing Father Larre is getting a good deal of mileage out of being all talk and no action, and Canada's hopelessly "liberal" media is more than happy to accommodate him.
