And in the latest edition of the lying, stupid cunt chronicles, we have Blogging Tory JoJo, who is as dishonest as they come when she quotes The Star's Antonia Zerbisias:

It was difficult for me to get through Antonia Zerbisias’ column this morning without retching (Time to batten down the hatches - again):

Pro-life demonstrators have long been on the march in front of Toronto’s abortion clinics.

They pace silently, carrying placards with graphic photos of bloody babies, hoping to dissuade women from entering.

They may be succeeding.

According to Statistics Canada, fewer abortions are being performed and teenage girls are having fewer babies – although in the U.S. the adolescent birth rate is up.

Well, what do you expect in that baby bump-obsessed culture that tracks celebrity girths and births?

The problem is, with the current governments in Washington and Ottawa, which have demonstrably anti-choice elements, the pro-life side now has hope.

That could spell trouble, as a divisive issue such as this could lead, again, to terrorism….

Terrorism? What a pile of shift!

This kind of inflammatory rhetoric is reminiscent of Morgentaler’s comments :

Yeah. "Terrorism." "Inflammatory rhetoric." I mean, really. Get over yourselves. Although I'm guessing it might have been too much effort for JoJo to read a little further down into Antonia's piece to read:

Not that anybody is calling for terrorist attacks, like when Dr. Garson Romalis was shot in the leg in Vancouver in 1994 or when Dr. Hugh Short of Ancaster, Ont., took a bullet in the arm in 1995 or when Dr. Jack Fainman got hit in the shoulder in Winnipeg in 1997.

And I guess JoJo missed entirely the contents of the sidebar on that piece:

1990: A Vancouver clinic was vandalized with crowbars, causing $30,000 worth of damage to equipment. Two men were seen fleeing the scene.

1992: Dr. Henry Morgentaler's Harbord St. clinic in Toronto is firebombed, collapsing the building's facade.

1994: In Vancouver, Dr. Garson Romalis is shot in the leg. In 2000, he would be stabbed by an unidentified assailant.

1995: Dr. Hugh Short of Ancaster, Ont., is shot in the elbow. His medical career is ended as a result.

1997: Dr. Jack Fainman is shot in the shoulder in Winnipeg.

1998: Dr. Barnett Slepian from Amherst, N.Y., near Buffalo, is shot to death.

All the sniper attacks took place late in the day, through glass doors or windows at the doctors' homes. A high-powered assault rifle was used each time.

In 2003, James Charles Kopp was sentenced to 25 years to life for the murder of Slepian. He is wanted by Canadian authorities for questioning in the other attacks, but Kopp refuses to co-operate. There is an outstanding warrant in Canada for Kopp's arrest in connection with the 1995 shooting of Short.

Here's a thought, JoJo: When you have to worry about someone blowing out your brains with a high-powered rifle or firebombing your place of work because they don't approve of what you do, then maybe you'll have the right to act so fucking sanctimonious and condescending about this issue. Until then ...

AFTERSNARK: There's something truly entertaining about the raging hypocrisy of shrieky dingbats like JoJo. On the one hand, JoJo has a reputation for deleting comments left on her blog that stray even the slightest bit into intemperance, because bad language is so uncivil and horrible and she refuses to subject herself to such rudeness and nastiness. On the other hand, murdering abortion providers? Geez, why don't you folks get over yourselves? "Terrorism," indeed. Pshaw.

Yes, JoJo ... in a head-to-head comparison, it's foul language that's the real danger to civil discourse in this country. That's what keeps me awake at night.
