Dumbassitude unlimited: The Richard Evans Chronicles.

Oh, this is precious. Not being content with opening up some innocent schmuck to potential harassment, we have this recent gem from the Calgary Herald:

Porn re-router fined $15,000
Richard Cuthbertson, Calgary Herald
Published: Tuesday, June 24, 2008

A man has been ordered to pay $15,000 in damages after he set up a shadow website for a Canmore bicycle shop that re-routed Internet users to a gay pornography website...

At first, InformCycle.com forwarded users to Rebound's website. But for 16 days in November 2004, Draper programmed the web page to take customers to a gay pornography site.

That meant people looking for Inform's website -- but who accidentally typed ".com" instead of ".ca" -- were redirected to the pornography.

And why is this amusing? Oh, I don't know ... it might have something to do with one of Dick's websites.

It's not like I really give a crap about this one way or the other but if there are any good Calgary lawyers out there reading this, drop me an e-mail. Let's chat.

I confess that this whole form of blog warfare - pretending someone is X, and then establishing a mock site or link based on what everyone knows to be a fraudulent assumption - seems utterly pointless to me. I don't think Richard Evans supports NAMBLA, and nor do you. It's fucking juvenile all the way round - and meanwhile it's free prominence for an odious cause.

Hmm. Must need more coffee. Feeling grumpy.

You're missing the point, balby. Yes, I got tired of this pissing match long ago, but whoever said "There's no such thing as bad publicity" never had their name so inextricably linked with white supremacy sites and NAMBLA.

And if Dick wants to keep riding that pony, I will be more than happy to help him out and keep him in Google's good graces for the next time he runs for office.

I'm just trying to be helpful.

I don't think I'm missing the point, CC. I think reciprocal dumbassitude stops when one party stops it. But like I said, I'm just grumpy today.

The thing is, Evans just comes back and does it again. Either to the same person, or someone else.

I agree one party has to stop; one party has to be made to stop, in fact.

Cyberstalking (not to mention real life stalking) and harrassment are criminal activities.

What was reciprocal about the situation? Did CC set up a misleading link for one of Richard's URLs? Or do you believe, as Richard apparently does, that CC started the RealCdnCynic blog and sent it to Richard in an attempt to drive traffic? If all CC does is point out Richard's dumbassitude, that isn't reciprocating.

It would be more mature, sure, to ignore Richard completely... but where's the fun in that?

Richard doesn't like being ignored, either, considering all the trolling and sock-puppeting he's done.

While Richard may not rent his children for pornographic endeavours, he does seem enamoured with man-boy love.
It would be irresponsible to speculate that he does fit the profile of a repressed pedophile, but this may explain is obsession with little boy love...

i'm as lost as the others: what reciprocity?

so, i've reviewed the previous post re dick. i think bal is referring to cc's suggestion that someone create a spoof site. i took it with a grain of salt, but i guess others may view something more troubling in it.

besides, think of all the stuff you could do with 15 large, like donating a few hundred of it to the Canadian Marxist Leninist Party in Richard's name. Just enough to get him on their mailing list for the rest of forever. Perhaps endow a scholarship for women's studies or postmodernism or some other "liberal" subject and name it after him. The possibilities are endless.
