Saskatoon has a slum that is per capita the most violent and poorest in the country by many estimates. For decades the same area has voted in socialist MPs, socialist city councilors, and has given the province 2 socialist premiers.
Yet, it has remained a shithole, where prostitutes, drug addicts, crooks, and gang bangers own the streets. Yes, there are many people who don't fit the "shithole" bill ... but it's always been the same. Vice rules.
You know, if Blogging Knuckle Draggers™ co-founder Stephen Taylor doesn't rein in some of these folks, it won't be long before some of them simply start encouraging folks to go kill themselves.

You've got to wonder sometimes with some bloggers just how much this obsession with the morality of addiction isn't also another instance of rightwing projection.

Ah, Papa Junker's own public kampf continues unabated. If he's not blaming an entire Semitic religious group for the ills of the world, it's some other group that does not conform to his ideas of social, religious, and economic purity.

I also think it is a 'blame the victim/they brought it on themselves' type of ostrich mentality.
I highly doubt many of the street people, or destitute, in these areas vote at all. Many are mentally ill, most are jaded and suspicious beyong belief. It's more like the people with homes and businesses are voting NDP (Brian Mason, my area) because they see 'socialists' as the only ones that give a shit or have realistic attitudes.
The wankers and well-off bitches(street talk) don't want to take responsibility although they don't seem to get that they slums and ghettos are where major illness is incubated and passed around, and major anger and anti-social attitudes are survival skills.
These(street/slum) are the people that commit crimes all over the urban area and spread flu and etc. to ivory tower dipshits. The homeless areas in Edmonton are basically meeting places to find shelter and free meals and most of the day everyone is at the downtown malls and libraries mingling with the 'haves'.
I always think it is the utmost stupidity to not realize that these reas breed crime and disease and that any self preserving moron would realize that putting more angry and hopeless people on the street is detrimental to the wanker's own safety and security and health.
There is fuck-all opportunity, and social income support is ~ $420 a month for singles - if you have a place! $880/mo. for family with 3 children. Avg rent in edmonton is obscene and even the cheapest bachelor/studio apt in fleabag buildings cost $550 - $700 per month.
I am getting pissed off and could write about this forever, but blaming this situation on socialism or socialistic attitudes makes me want to tune people in to reality.
The ones that vote conservative and reduce social spending? They bring a certain measure of crime and insecurity on themselves, don't you you stupid fuck wankers?
