Dear BTs: About that "search" window ...

Hmmmmm ... how curious ... in the last day or so, the Blogging Tories web site seems to have lost its handy-dandy "search" feature. Which is a shame since it was ever so useful for demonstrating things like, oh, the BTs overwhelming lack of interest in Brenda Martin.

No problem, of course, since I have the actual Google search URL bookmarked. But, still, one wonders why this quiet deletion? I'll try not to read anything sinister into it. Yet.

It's still working for me.

Really? That search box used to be right at the top of the page. Now I don't see it anymore. How odd.

What browser are you using?

I am on Firefox and it appears to me that the search feature is gone. I don`t see it anywhere on the page.

I don't think Dawg understands what you're referring to. He might be confusing it with the Google site search you've linked to. I'm not seeing a search function on the BT home page in either FireFox or IE.

Not that I care. I went over and checked briefly and I became moist (as in, I pee'd a little) at seeing an ad gushing about teh Boggin' Torees being available on mobile devices. And then I skimmed the latest blog entries...oh, Lord.

This is why society is boned. The complete indifference to issues of substance at the expense of form.

I'm using Flock and the BTs search box, there it is -- gone.

That`s HILARIOUS

You`ve been doing that ``And on the other hand, here`s what the blogging tories are writing about this subject`shtick for at least a year and they finally get a clue-by-four!

It`s been a great running gag, like the Thermometer watch posts...

Notice how she`s stopped posting thermometer graphics as well!

You Rock CC!

Since Dr. Dawg claims to still be able to see the search window, I'm going to assume it's just a stupidly-designed web page that fails for some browsers.

Besides, removing that search feature doesn't stop anyone from going to the official BT search page, so it wouldn't make one hell of a lot of difference, would it?

I'm not sure what the good Doctor is seeing but the search window is definitely gone ...

OK. I bookmarked the search engine, and went to it again today. You'll see some search terms from the past--wipe them and put in your own. I tried "Brenda Martin" and there are a few references:

Just in case that got truncated, try this:

Am I missing something here?

CC said...

No, Dawg, you misunderstand. The ability to search the BTs is still there, via the direct Google link as you show above, as long as you know what that Google URL is.

What's missing is the little search text box that used to be at the top of the BTs home page that took you there.

Are we clear on this now?

Dr.Dawg said...

Ah. Sorry about that. I just bookmarked the search engine and anytime I want to use it I have simply gone back to it rather than to the BT homepage.

Should we publicize this Google link, given that the little box you mention is indeed missing?

Sorry about the confusion. I always like to do things the hard way.

I would say so, for sure. It's pretty hilarious if in fact they've taken it down intenionally, hoping to hide their own bat shit.

But I wonder if it might be a good idea to wait, in case it's a temporary glitch, or under construction.

Folks, I wouldn't make too much of this. At a guess, it's just a temporary oversight, and it doesn't stop anyone from searching if they really want.

Now, as for the Progressive Bloggers of Canada, perhaps they could get their shit together and fix their search function some day.

Pity. That was actually one of the more "useful" features on the BT site, unlike all of the pointless charts, graphs, meters and other cryptic doo-dads that appear to signify something.

You really should add a button on the sidebar so folks can quickly access that page.
