Ah, the beauty of the passive voice.

Blogging Tory Jonathan Strong tiptoes around naming actual names (emphasis added):

It began with shock and awe, but how it will end is yet to be seen. What is clear is that many mistakes were made, and yet, there has been much progress made as well...

So while many mistakes have been made ...

And one searches in vain through Jonathan's post for the names "Bush", "Cheney" or "Rumsfeld." Or "Perle" or "Wolfowitz" or "Adelman." Apparently, it's the style these days to admit that mistakes were made, without pointing out who actually made them.

Convenient, that.

"Many mistakes were made"

You mean like allowing Al Qaa Qaa to be raided so they could secure oil fields?

Fucking tool.

The biggest mistake was ever thinking Republican loyalists would ever be able to pull this off. The Republican version of movement conservatism is simply a toxic mess made up equally of three parts: the bafflingly credulous who believe other people's expressions of "good intentions" unconditionally, the clash of civilisations and end-times hysterics who quite obviously don't have enough real drama in their lives, and the purely criminal who exploit the last two.

If we ever get a chance to hold anyone responsible, I suggest Tony Blair. He's the only one we can reasonably imagine being shipped off to the Hague.
