Up is down, black is white.

And in the latest example of the Bush administration’s Orwellian doublethink, an increase in suicide bombings means we’re winning in Afghanistan according to Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. Seriously.

Gates conceded there’s “a rising security issue” there, but said “it’s because the Taliban are turning to terrorism, having failed in conventional military conflict with the NATO allies.”

“And so we are seeing more suicide bombings, more use of (improvised explosive devices), and so on. These are actions of people whose conventional military efforts have failed,” he said. “The rise in violence and attacks like we saw in Kabul are manifestations of a group that has lost in regular military terms in 2007 and is turning to terrorism as a substitute for that.”

Riiiiiggghhhttt. And if I close my eyes and wish really, really hard, I’ll find a million dollars under my pillow.

When Gates begins to refer to those folks as "desperate, dead-enders," you'll know we've come full circle.

Riiight.... So, we're winning because the bad guys are using the same effective tactics they've used all along. Obviously they're getting desperate, because they're using what works and what is at their disposal and that means we're winning.

Seriously did I wake up in a retard convention or something?

WHAT THE FUCK

Can England or somebody please invade? Apparently the American people are too fucking cowardly or stupid to remove this administration of crooks and morons from office so someone else is going to have to. China, are you up for it?

These assclows are rather pathetic. The are and will win this gorilla war.

What will happen is that Americans will find a way to word their retreat in acceptable terms for the home consumption and leave....

I'm almost certain that I've heard this before... was it 2004? 2005? 2006? Or... all of them?

Amateur psychoanalysis of an enemy is a dead end. Militarily speaking, you win on your terms, or you haven't won.

That's not to say that Afghanistan is lost, or even unwinnable. I'm not sure what the reality is (and our government isn't exactly trying to tell us). But these fairy tales are not worthy of us.

But we can be sure that the "last throes" aren't far behind.
