A lack of omnipotence -- so THAT'S our problem.

Back here in the comments section, Blogging Tory "Junker" will find any excuse to piss and moan about the Progress-o-sphere:

Wow, glad you're all so riled up over women’s rights here in Canada. If only ya’ll showed the same sort of energy over REAL women’s rights abuse issues overseas.

Big talk....big deal. I'm left with the impression that it's all the left has to offer.

So, in a nutshell, when progressives get organized to try to affect issue "A", Junker's response is to bitch that we are not suitably engaged in issue "B". And if we were to tackle "B", well, why the fuck aren't we all over issue "C"? And so on and so on.

After having been smacked for his airheaded insolence, Junker fights back:

Its not a matter of soldiering, foreign policy etc in this case, just the seemingly apathetic actions of the left. I watch you pour energy and conviction into an issue like abortion rights in Canada(an issue where I'd likely side with you), and at the same time seemingly ignore a related earth wide problem, and a much more serious problem at that(more serious in the nature of its consequnces at least).

Ignoring a "related earth wide problem," Junker? You mean, the way your pappy Paul over at "Intellectual Junk" contemptuously dismisses any and all concern about the global and overwhelming evidence for climate change? You mean like that?

Man, Junker, you have some chutzpah. Most people would be embarrassed to put their hypocrisy on public display like that. Apparently, you have no such limitations. Good for you.

As alluded to in the comments to the aforementioned thread, what exactly are Herr Paul Possenreißer and Junker Von Poopshute actually “doing” other than punching at some phantom Islamofascict menace and howling away at the moon from the rubberized confines of their craptacular little blog?

I have a pretty standard answer for anyone trying to divert my attention with, "But what about X? Don't you care about X?"

My answer is, "Not at the moment. Stick to the topic or go home."

It's not a clever answer, or witty. Its only virtue is its brevity.

The minute righties ever stay on topic is the minute I'll drop dead.

The flip-side of the righty complaint that we're not doing enough about "X" in countries where we have no democratic power is far more significant; in their own country, where they can really affect change in social justice issues, the righties do worse than nothing...they harrass activists.
