Holy dancing Jesus.

The things you find on teh Intert00bz when you’re looking for the names of Bugs Bunny characters. Behold the hilarious insanity of the following article ponderously titled “Bugs Bunny - Gender Bender Hero or Homosexual?” (emphasis gleefully added).

The typical Bugs cartoon contains these three elements: Bugs saying, "What's up doc?" while eating a carrot. Bugs dressing up as a female to seduce his enemy or lull them into a false sense of security or dressing up an explosive or robot as a female to do the same. Then there is the matter of him always kissing his same sex enemies with nice wet, slobbery kisses.

Separately these mannerisms would probably mean nothing but together they do raise some suspicion as to Bugs Bunny's sexual preference. In the cartoons he is always getting harassed when he is minding his own business and munching a carrot (possibly a phallic metaphor?). The cross-dressing and kissing the same sex needs no further inference. For some reason Bugs always does an impression of Liberace when behind a piano, uttering the words "This is for my brother George" in the most lascivious voice to crawl into the human ear. Is it to mock Liberace or to make sure his name is not forgotten lest he becomes an obscure gay icon?

Now here’s the kicker. After reading the entire article, it appears the author is, in fact, supportive of Bugs Bunny – Gender Bender Hero ... not gay-bashing. So your topic for discussion - was Bugs Bunny gay or just ahead of his time? And is the author a little bit crazy or just shit-disturbing?

P.S. Last week was bad but this week will be infinitely worse so hit-and-miss blogging only. Play nice unless it's with the BTs or trolls, then you can kick ass with impunity.

I read in a pro-gay cartoon or humour book that Bugs Bunny was a gay icon. ... Was it in Martini Baton?

Jeebuz, Tinky-Winky really started something when he flaunted his lavender little self in front of ol' Jerry Falldown, didn't he? I wonder if he knew at the time that he was outing the entire comic character community?

Wait a seccy here--how the hell can Bugs be gay OR straight when he lacks both genitals and an asshole?

Bugs is just one of those highly self assured sorts who knows exactly how to get up in the face of authoritarians trying to tell him what to do. He goes uhm...straight for their bloviating about what manly men they are. Then leaves them in quivering heaps of insecurity. Doesn't matter what his actual preferences are. He's the badly needed Trickster mocking society's strong men. As for sloppy kisses...geez...that makes you gay? I thought it just made you the relative everyone at family gatherings tried to greet with a handshake.

South Park and Family Guy are today's versions of yoinking aw-thor-i-tay.

Bugs is really just another personification of the 'Trickster' archetype found in most cultural mythologies.

The closest I've been was Jessica Rabbit. Not quite the same, I'm thinking.
