About that link...

Sweet Jeeziz. Sometimes I just have to shake my head and wonder if there is even a lick of sense in some folk. If you click on CC's link to a search for the Blogging Tories articles about the DMCA you will, as of the time of writing, find two entries. Two.

One of them is from the pearl clutchers over at the politic. They are going through the trouser dampening dance of fear over the scary ol' Libruls using DMCA take down notices to censor conservative youtube videos. While their fears are likely unfounded in the specific, they are a legitimate point of concern. The problem with DMCA notices is that you really don't have to prove who you are or that you actually have a legitimate claim to the copyright material in question. I don't know if the Liberals or their supporters are in fact abusing DMCA take down notices, but if they are, cut it the fuck out. Of greater concern is the corporate abuse of these compliance orders. For example, say you are a songwriter and you create a piece entitled, um, "Insert Witty Title Here" and you produce a video and a recording and set up shop online. Then a corporate behemoth like, SONY (who have a proven track record of being abusive anti-consumer fuck sticks) puts out an song with the same name. There is nothing to stop one of their fuck stick lawyers from firing off take down notices that essentially erase the legitimate rights of the smaller artist. Remember, you can't copyright a title. There are more than a few cases of misrepresentation in claims that have resulted in legitimate and authorized works being taken down. So at least the politic has a bit of a clue of the abusive power that rests within something like the DMCA. They get one point.

Then there is teh stupid! Gay and Stupid to be exact. I don't even know where to begin. So let's just say, what a fucking spectacular idiot. Far from exerting a scintilla of effort, this brainless poltroon defers to the dubious claims of the MPAA (Motion Picture Assholes of America). Trousers soaked in the cold piss of fear he cries about a "loophole we've got to close". He doesn't go beyond posting a title. The entirety of his understanding is a quote from a Globe article that parrots the MPAA position claiming Canada is a seething hotbed of piracy. But for a gay man to buy into this fucking tripe astonishes me, particularly one who hates himself enough to align with the far right. Get a load of this quote, "In the United States, laws such as the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) make it easier for authorities to get at the pirates, but in Canada, Internet service providers do not disclose information on their subscribers unless a search warrant is issued."

Dear fucking me, the stupidest gay man on two legs actually appears to agree that internet providers should be coughing up their customer's personal data to the authorities and corporate thugs without search warrants. All based on the second hand assumption that the pig fuckers from the MPAA are telling the truth when they make their spurious claims. Fuck off. Can people really be that stupid and gullible and survive operating small appliances? Oh sweet Darwin, take 'em, they're all yours.

Update:
Seems a certain post has vanished mysteriously from the search results. Bwahahaha.

Fred IS an idiotic poltroon (great word) who almost never seems to actually think through some of the material he posts or considers the ramifications of the material he’s blindly endorsing, but like many bloggers simply plops out a turd that seems to affirm their world-view — whatever that might happen to be.

Based on his extensive oeuvre it’s gathered that he buys into an utterly conventional far right-wing mold that forever oscillates between climate-change denial and Islamophobia for the most part, with occasional detours in order to swoon over the tumescent “brilliance” of manly man Mark Steyn or to howl with outrage about the perfidies of the liberal media, academic establishment and other usual suspects that provoke indignation from the Right with tiresome predictability.

Hahahaha! Oh, dear. Whew.

These are the guys that are always screaming about the "Librul Police State Jackbooting Conservatives". And G&R thinks it's just fine and dandy for ISPs to disclose our info without so much as a warrant.

Nanny statists, the whole bunch of them.

Funny, but when you run that search string, Fred's post no longer comes up. Weird.
