Drinking cynically in Toronto, Friday, Feb. 9.

[DATED TO REMAIN UP HERE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS -- NEWER SNARK BELOW.]

[UPDATE, Tue, Feb. 6: We're actually at the point where we may have maxed out the room we reserved for this, so it's unlikely we'll be able to handle any more people. Sorry.]

A small group of like-minded bloggy type folks (that would be the angry, unhinged, deranged, moonbat, terrorist-appeasing, baby-killing, culture of death, socialist, commie, pinko Left or, as we like to refer to them more concisely, Zorpheous and myself) plus a few other folks are getting together this coming Friday in Toronto for dinner, followed by copious drinking.

In the first place, the plan is for a manageable sized group that can chat comfortably over dinner, even if we have to push a couple tables together. More importantly, though, at least a couple folks are anonymous bloggers and have every intention of staying that way, which is why we're not splashing details all over the Internets. (And why cameras and video phones will be tightly controlled.)

So if you're interested and think you would blend in nicely, drop me an e-mail at the address up there on the right. No ... the other right. There you go. We can probably squeeze in a couple more folks without any trouble but there's no plan to throw it open entirely so, if there's a massive surge (or "escalation") of interest, we'll unfortunately have to be selective.

And that, as they say, is that.

P.S. At the moment, I'm simply listing myself and Zorph as attendees. Anyone else who's already on the guest list is welcome to announce that in the comments section, or not, however they prefer. It's entirely up to them.

Jeez, y'know, I'd jump at that idea but I'll be... somewhere between the Cascade and Monashee mountain ranges.

Y'all have a good time!

I would too except I am on the East Coast quite literally, one of these days perhaps I will finally get to meet some of my fellow bloggers in person but somehow I don't think it is going to be all that soon...*sigh*

Have fun CC and Zorpheous as well as all that show up to join you there.

I'll be there as planned!

Sigh, if only I wasn`t stuck in the frozen wasteland of Ottawa.

In my daughter's class, teacher will not allow anyone to pass out Valentine's unless he or she passes them out to everyone in the class. This policy prevents the development of a class of students that is more equal than the others. But, I guess, where Blogging Tories are concerned, class is cool.

Um ... what?

Um . . . when you announce publicly that you're meeting for dinner & drinks, but only the most equal are invited, you're acting like a bunch of Tories. . . for my money at least.

You're right, of course, seer. Tolerance and open-mindedness demands that we spend an evening with those whose company we don't enjoy.

I stand corrected.

I'd definitely like to try and hang out. I'll be sending an email for the info, but I can't guarantee yet that I'll be able to make it.

...yeah, right. As if I'd want to be seen in public with any of these freaks.

Oh my God! Did I type that out loud?

... ;)

Crap. Perhaps I'll have to get my ass in gear earlier to join fellow bloggers/rationalists for a little JD.

As Dave Attell said, "You may not know where you're going when you drink Jack, but you know when you get there you won't be wearing any pants."

It didn't make a difference though, did it, Antonia? The dark side didn't become any brighter just because they were sociable that one time. Iraqis kept on dying, homos remained vilified, environmental science was ignored, etc. etc.

We enable these people when we give them the time of day.

Maybe I'll show up. Haven't decided yet ;)

Have a good'n! Maybe I'll catch you folks next time :) Cheers! GDK

Antonia:

The two main issues here are:

1) We do have limited space, and

2) We have bloggers who want to remain anonymous so we are counting on discretion and, frankly, I wouldn't trust a right-wing Canadian blogger as far as I could propel him with a woodchipper.

Other than that, I wouldn't have a problem. :-)

Some of the better woodchippers get some impressive distance.

"We enable these people when we give them the time of day." ...

And you are too thick to realize that commenting on their activities IS giving them the time of day.

Gosh, anony-clod, I never thought about that. I didn't know I was forcing lil' connies to read my comments.

Maybe next time?
