Time for a new role model: Part deux.

I read the news today, oh boy:

Bush sucks.
Seriously.
I am NOT fucking kidding.

So, Steve ... how's that hero worship going these days?

AND JUST BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE BEING CRUEL, this is the sort of stomach-churning shit that happens when you're not a member of the reality-based community.

BY THE WAY, it's not just Hinderaker. What the fuck is wrong with those people?

From Kung Fu Monkey:

I mean, is it in the nature of the [legal] profession, the training in constructing arguments to serve a purpose rather than discern a truth.

That's exactly it. The real outrage with this is that, given the status of the profession and the ubiquity of legalism as a frame-work in which intractible problems are solved with some amount of finality, practically everyone believes we are all expected to argue everything as if we're all in a court of law, all the time. There are a couple of Internet trolls I've battled with who wield legalism as a way of "winning an argument" above anything else.

It's ridiculous and leads to the abominations of Althouse, Hinderaker et. al.

I have a lot of respect for lawyers (for the most part) but that profession has to do more to make plain that lawyers perform a certain service within a paradigm of conflict resolution that is not necessarily appropriate in every situation.
