Initial investment: One case box cutters, several introductory sessions of flying school, 19 coach class tickets.
Return on investment:
The U.S. Air Force is asking the Pentagon's leadership for a staggering $50 billion in emergency funding for fiscal 2007 -- an amount equal to nearly half its annual budget, defense analyst Loren Thompson of the Lexington Institute said on Tuesday.
... Thompson, who has close ties to U.S. military officials, said the big funding request was fueled by Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England. England told the services in a October 25 memo to include the "longer war on terror," not just the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, in their emergency requests.
In officially-unrelated news, Halliburton stock is doing just fine, thanks.

Off-topic, but I think the Democrats are revving up their own wurlitzer:
Denver man says Haggard paid for gay sex
THE GAZETTE
New Life Church in Colorado Springs will investigate an allegation that Pastor Ted Haggard paid for sex with a Denver man, a Denver television station reported.
Haggard denied the charge.
The man, Mike Jones, told KUSA-TV that he and Haggard had a "sexual business" relationship for the past three years, according to a report broadcast Wednesday night. Haggard said a panel independent of the 14,000-member church will investigate. The panel could exonerate, discipline or fire him based on its findings, Haggard said.
"I've never had a gay relationship with anybody," Haggard told KUSA. "I am steady with my wife. I am faithful
to my wife."
Since I make no statement at all about the credibility of this story, I'll have nothing to retract. Learned that from KKKate.
"19 coach class tickets."
Actually they were 1st Class tickets so the hijackers could be upfront, behind a curtain and close to the cock pit.
But I'm sure that doesn't change the over all investment by that much...
