It's beginning to look a lot like ... hang on, then, what's this?

Apparently, in the same way that a gay couple getting married in Nova Scotia will destroy the sanctity of, say, a God-fearing, Ward and June Cleaver hetero union in Canmore, Alberta, the thought of Canada Post not clubbing you over the head 24 hours a day with the gagging incantation of "Merry Christmas" will somehow suck the very essence of joy and mindless celebration out of Canada's religious whackjobs, who have had it up to here with all this left-wing, communist "Peace on Earth" and joy bullshit.

Joel wants his "Christmas," by God. And he doesn't want to hear another single fucking mention of "joy" out of any of you moonbats. You got that?

The only moonbats our there are the ones at Canada Post spending money on this PC BS. It's even called Christmas in the Canada Labour Code here.
This is the act that defines Christmas as a holiday. It's in the Law.

ah, the time of year when prigs and diddlers climb up on their hobby horses and charge back and forth until they are frothing in their betinsled dens of indignation. why, it's almost mid-november, time to go up into the attic and pull down the boxes full of respect our religious festival decorations. cue the sappy loops of endlessly repeating carols in every public space, charge up the massive diesel powered commerce generators for yea, it is the time of year that we celebrate the birth of little bobby jebus with pretty maxed out credit cards.

let the seasonal whining commence. have a happy mid-winter, appropriated pagan festival day. wankers.

Canada Post spent money on advertising? Those bastards! You can't advertise at Christmas unless you use the word 'Christmas' - according to anonymous, it's the Law.

How much money did they throw away on advertising anyway? A gazillion dollars? Joel, say it isn't so. Think of all the more productive ways CP could have spent that gazillion...

Yeah, I'm having that kind of day...

adam,

While Canada Post can advertise, it doesn't have to spend big dollars on this PC name-change drivel. How about better service or lower postage rates for a start?
They really don't have to advertise because you have to enter one of their mini-stores every time you want stamps - where else are you going to go?
Christmas is Christmas by tradition and by law. For non-Christians it's just a name for a day off work; two if you count Boxing Day (or maybe the PC folks at Canada Post will change that to Post Joy day).

They didn't spend big money on a name-change, anonymous, they spent a "gazillion" dollars (according to no-link Joel) on an ad campaign. The ad campaign informs the public about services they are offering. It's pretty normal behaviour for a service company.

They really don't have to advertise because you have to enter one of their mini-stores every time you want stamps - where else are you going to go?

Now you're being silly right? I mean, surely you've been to a convenience store before...

PS: thanks for clearing up that Christmas is Christmas. Can you clarify whether Ramadan is Ramadan, summer is summer, and April Fool's Day is April Fool's Day?

adam,

Maybe you can buy stamps where where you live but no convenience store in my area (about 6 of them that I have visited recently) sells stamps. I can only get stamps at the two Canada Post outlets nearby.

Anyway I stick to my point that any money spent in a BS effort trying to hide or rename Christmas is a waste.

Sure, it would be a waste if that's what was happening, which I guess is my point.

The stamp thing is surprising to me, although I don't see why you would make it up. Out of curiosity, where do you live?
