My new favourite comic strip.

It's called "Pearls Before Swine," but don't take that personally. Except for you, Joel. You can take it as personally as you want.

It was Jacques LeGoff, I think, who reminded us that after the Empire collapsed in the West and the Romans lapsed into illiteracy, the well-educated bishops deliberately "dumbed-down" theiur diction so everyone could hear and understand their sermons.

Could somebody please pass this insight along to Stephen?

I just saw part of the joint press conference between Stephen and Our Beloved Leader on CNN and Stephen, ignoring the most important person in his audience, spoke like he actually understood what he was talking about, while Our Beloved Leader spoke in his usual, halting, aimless vignettes, all the while having trouble completing a sentence.

Did Stephen deliberately do this to make Our Beloved Leader look bad?

Or is is this just another example of Stephen showing off?

Well, we do know that Bush really hates to be upstaged intellectually. Which must make his life a non-stop, 24-hour living hell.

God, I can't think of anything more irritating that having to listen to Stephen Harper and George Bush in the same sitting.

That's a great comic strip. I like your blog, too, and visit a lot, but never comment. Almost never. Keep it up!
