Vice-President Cheney resting comfortably after hunting accident.

(CC NEWS) -- The White House reported earlier today that Vice-President Dick Cheney was resting comfortably after an unfortunate hunting accident, in which he shot some guy.

"We want to assure the American public," said Cheney spokeswoman Lea Anne McBride, "that the vice-president is doing well and is in no immediate danger. The horrific wounds to that guy were in no way life-threatening to Mr. Cheney, and we expect the vice-president to make a full recovery from this traumatic and devastating incident."

According to news reports pieced together from various eyewitnesses, it was only minutes after Cheney shot that guy that emergency medical personnel arrived and whisked Cheney away to Baylor Medical Center, where a battery of tests run on him showed that there was no permanent damage, and that Cheney was expected to recover completely within a day or two and be back on the job, perhaps shooting other people within the week.

In related news, the Democratic Leadership Council demanded that Cheney appear on the television talk show "Hardball with Chris Matthews" to explain this incident in more detail. And to take his shotgun.
