The best and the brightest? I don't think so.


From over at The News Blog, we have this piece about the upcoming deployment to Iraq of a 19-year-old who, sadly, appears to have been perfectly designed as a receptacle for neo-con propaganda:

"I don't know all the facts as much as I should," said Private Jordan, of the First Armored Division, 501st Forward Support Battalion, as she sat in her childhood home here. "What I know is that we're protecting our country still. We're concentrating on keeping insurgents away from the United States."

Right. You're going to fight them over there, so you don't have to fight them over here. Because, as we all know, the terrorists are just too fucking stupid to be fighting over there while perhaps sneaking a few of themselves over here at the same time. That would just never occur to them in a million, billion, skillion years, would it?

Her friends and family would mourn the loss of Private Jordan. The gene pool would not.

perhaps if we just sent the troops out into the desert away from the population centers and fought them there......
