Sure, it's just marijuana NOW ...

... but (via TBogg), this is the sort of shit you might look forward to if you let the Americans start running the justice system up here. And, no, I'm not being paranoid -- those really are black helicopters, aren't they?

It was verified that more than 250 individuals were at the party, in violation or county statutes and by "11:30 pm law enforcement personnel moved in to curtail and disburse the party. During this process at least 60 arrests were made for weapons offenses, DUI, illegal underage consumption of alcohol, possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of ecstasy, distribution of ecstasy, resisting arrest, assault on a police officer, and disorderly conduct."
"A 17 year old female from West Jordan, found by officers, had overdosed on ecstasy. She was treated and released to her parents."

First of all there is no mention of 1500 people, that needs verification. Next is the fact that raves are renoun for drug sales through gang members. Don't dispute me on this, my wife and I have spent many nights looking for her neive at raves throughout Edmonton. This has nothing to do with pot, get a grip. So how exactly would you like the police to go into a potentialy dangerous situation, perhaps like the four mounties did in Alberta, completely unprepared. If I was a cop you can be damn sure when i go into a crowd of more than 250 drugged up kids, I am going to use force to quell a riot. You MUST show that you mean business. You need some experience in dealing with kids on extacy before you start negating a situation like this....

People going to raves should be arrested simply for listening to such crappy music. If you can even call 155 BPM electronic shit "music".

Did you guys watch the video?

These weren't "cops" -- they were dressed like infantry, with combat helmets, assault rifles, and green camoflague.

It was a peaceful rave, with permits from country officials, put on by experienced promoters.

By all means, search people for hard drugs. But this was a military assault on teenagers -- completely fucked up.

US law enforcement is out of control, and we don't want it up here in Canada.

im in the usa right now (new mexico to be exact, go bill richardson) and i just saw the footage.

dino, i think you mean niece. i before e, except after c, etc.

also, if youve been to raves, dino, youd know that most people there are pretty rowdy, but in a peaceful way.

the way raves are policed and busted in canada has never required that much excess force. ive dealt with kids on "exstacy" before, and theyre not particularly violent (unlike kids on meth). ive actually been to raves in vancouver, and not every single person there is dealing or doing drugs. ive been offered drugs at raves, and ive seen undercover cops bust the same people.

i dont see how kicking girls in the stomach, pointing guns at people, and having an effing helicopter to help out is more effective than getting a young cop dressed to party to infiltrate the rave and actually specifically target dealers and purchasers.
