Well, I have some thoughts here, and I would love people to comment on what they think. I will be posting a topic similar to this on my blog soon, at www.viewoftherepublic.blogspot.com.America is now coming through in spades to donate to the victims in Indonesia, despite the fact that Indonesians HATE us. These people were among the countries dancing in the streets on 9-11. They were so happy that innocent Americans had died, that they felt the need to dance. So, why are we helping them? Well, Jesus says so I guess. That whole, invite your enemy to dine with you thing. Now, if America had simply said “no, you hate us and we hate you”, the flames of hatred would have burned brighter. People have been dissing god on this blog because of the dead in Asia. You know, the whole “gods in a pissy mood”. But consider this: America, a mostly Christian nation, is donating 350 million to Indonesia, a primarily Muslim area. Their “brothers” and fellow Muslims in the Mid-East (Saudi Arabia etc.) have donated NOTHING. That’s right, nothing to their fellow Muslims; that is how much they care. Well, if you ask me, what is a better way to build a peaceful relationship with Indonesia than helping them now, in their hour of need? This could be a major strengthening between Christians and Muslims, and hopefully it will be just the start. I don’t doubt that this all has divine purpose…but others (with short-sightedness, I might add) seem to disagree.

From CC:Mr. Gatsby writes:> "So, why are we helping them? Well, Jesus says so I guess."As I've already posted here, Jay, my evasive little weasel, Jesus also had nothing but praise for the poor woman who contributed only two copper coins, which turned out to be all she had. You, on the other hand, with your "nothing but the bottom line" attitude, have basically told Jesus he's full of shit. My, but aren't we the little hypocrite, quoting Jesus only when it suits our needs?Jesus also admonishes his followers (Matthew 6:5-6): "And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."So when can we expect you and your Bible-believing followers to shut the fuck up and stop annoying the crap out of the rest of us with your sanctimonious, "look at me" worship? Yeah, I thought as much.
